I do feel sicky but i really dont know if its the gabapentin as im on so many other meds and im on the max dose but one thing i know i can blame gabapentin for is i have an extremely dry mouth! I dont seem to produce much saliva and i have at least one large glass of water on the go constantly and even if im just going on the school run i have to take bottles of water with me. Hope this helps...Much love.....Charlii xx

Im on gabapentin im currently on 3 x 500mg a day. When I started I was originally on 100mg a day and upped a week later to twice a day and nearly a week later to 3 times aday. Each time the does has been upped its been gradual once a day then twice a day. My friend has just started on Gabapentin and shes been started the same way.

It might be an idea to break your dosage into 3 times a day. Id speak to your doctor about it.

When I up the dose to quickly I get very dizzy. And yes I get a dry mouth as well. Sucking your tongue helps.

i too upped my gabapentin slowly and am now on 500mg 3 times a day i too feel sick but i am on lots of meds but i have foumd them to be good for my pain and i take tablets to help with sickness

Hi spurs8r

I was on Gabapentin and it just made me a bit vague and even more foggy than usual. Can I suggest you pop back and have a word with your doctor if you are feeling sick. There are are other drugs out there that may suit you better. Feeling sick all the time isn't something you need to put up with.

Love and hugs Karen

I was feeling sick before my meds were upped but its only first thing in the morning then wears off x i think the pros out weigh the cons xxx

Ah that's ok. I was thinking you were feeling sick all day.

The chances are if you stick with it your body will adjust and you will feel less sick as time goes on.

Fingers crossed

I was on Gabapention for a week. Then I developed severe stomach cramps and went straight to the emergency doc. He told me not to take any more and gave me Pregabalin which I take 300mg a day. They seem to be working well most of the time (apart from my flare up last week)

Hope you stop feeling nauseous soon.

I'm on 4 x 300mg a day and they made me feel awful at first. I'm used to them now and the side effects are much less. They dont seem to help with the pain though.

Hello Spurs

Gabapentin is prescribed for neuropathic pain and can be very effective with Fibromyalgia. However, if you have any concerns about this medication it would be advisable to have a chat with your GP who would be able to advise you regarding the nausea you are feeling and whether this is likely to subside or whether you need this medication changing etc.

Here is some info on Gabapentin for you -

I hope this helps, please let us know how you get on.

Best wishes and hugs xx

Hi all , I've been on gabapentin for six years or more , I've graduatley gone up to 9 x. 300 mg per day , I'm not sure how much good it does as the longer I've been on them my general health has worsened !! But as I uped the dose I felt better each time but that soon wore of

I ask dr what he thought?? He said he would worry about the quality of life I'd have if I came off them !! So even though I wonder what they do for me I still don't want to take chance of getting worse !!! I take dihydrocodiene 8 day amatripaline at night another antidepressant at night and peppermint oil tablets for I.b.s !!!! Plus morphine patches change every 4days ( I forget and don't know if I should change or not ????)

All in all I've come to terms with having to take tablets rest of my life !!! I will do anything to life a normal life !!!!!!! I still can do a little housework and that's important to me and I still manage a holiday even though I don't do evenings I still have a family day !!!

I am really pleased with myself if I achieve one thing a day !!!! There's me hidden in there somewhere !!!

Take care out there x

Hi I take 300mg 3 times a day, but they dont make me feel sick, they make me very thirsty dont help much with the pain, but knock me out at night so I get a sleep, only thing is make me even more tired during the day but I prefer to take them so i can get a sleep at night, otherwise I get no sleep and I am in agony with my feet and legs. (I was given them for neuropathy in my feet and legs which was unbearable), hope your sickness doesnt last too long

Well good news I don't feel sick this morning so fingers crossed x thank you all xxxx

Ive been on it about 7 months and the only side effect i got was in the first week, feeling very unsteady on my feet. off balance really os the only way i can describe it. That wore off in a week or so, i'm fine now. Tried to come off them a while ago, bad idea. The symptoms came back within 36hrs.

I only tried to come off them because i "stupidly " thought if this fibro is, all in my head i will be fine to come off them!!!

The sicky feeling should become less and less over a few weeks. If not go back to your docs, they dont agree with everyone. Pregabalin is another one you could suggest to your gp.

Hello,

I haven't had many side effects from Gabapentin, I'm on 900mg x 3 a day. Everyone is affected differently tho, so what doesn't happen to one person happens to another :)

Hi Charlie, I'm Claire, I just read ur post and wanted to say be very carful wen taking this drug, I've been in pregabalins for couple of years now, and to say it's caused me some very distressing illnesses would be an understatement, I woke up last year and collapsed on the floor. Both legs very extremely swelled I mean like size of balloons, I couldnt stand a my feet were swelled also and couldn't take my weight, I'm of normal weight, 10 stone and 5'6 anyway I'll fast forward not to bore u, it transpired I had now got terrible vascular illness due to these tablets which my g,p even told me it was them that caused it, and it's perminant.... But it's trying to cut down on my dosage which is terrible, my doctor has said its like withdrawing from heroin, now I don't won't to scare u, and I've heard ur tablets are weaker that my type so u mite not have any concerns, just be careful, u can Google it also and see wat a bad write up they have. Good luck

Just wNted to add, I ap if I came across as a bit full on but wen I saw this deprug mentioned it brought up bad experiences I've had, I'm glad ur not getting no bad times but to anyone on pregabalin just be carful,, do not try to just stop taking them cut down gradually....
