Pain and fatigue

Busterelliecharlie profile image

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia on Thursday for the last 2 days my body is hurting and I'm so tired. But I have tried to push myself. My depression is kicking in I'm so worried I've been off work for 6 months and now I'm down to half pay. I think occy health will let me go early retirement ill health. I don't no how it all works. It's a worry for me I don't no where to go for financial assistance. Fibro is a lonely excistanc. Anyway I do hope you are all well and happy. My name is Berenice.

Hi Berenice, I would suggest you keep a diary day to day how you feel, don't be afraid to say exactly how this affects you. I you phone the DWP for a disability or PIP as it is called now for a claim form. On the right hand side you will see topics, this can give you loads of info also you will see FMAUK'S own benefits advisor. Hope this helps. Good luck. Izzy

Thank you peck. I'm already on amitriptyline which helps. My doctor was brilliant and already thought it was fibro. He sent me to rheumatology which then was confirmed. So things have happened quickly for me. Thank you once again.

Hi you have more fatigue and pain because you are stressed - I find I feel much worse when I am stressed/worried or just have taken too much on - I am so tired today because not sleeping well and I did too much yesterday - and wow its such a hot day here 😩. being free from going to work you can pace yourself better - but finances are another story - rest up hope you feel better tomorrow - Neese x

Hi Munibala9

I was interested to see your advice about drinking 200ml water before bedtime. I try not to drink too late in the evening thinking that it will only mean that I will be disturbed by a full bladder and wake up needing the toilet. How does drinking water help? I'm willing to give it a try if it helps with fatigue, muscle aches & pains and/or sleep.

Hi there

Welcome to the forum :)

It can be very daunting when you are first diagnosed. I think the main thing is to take a bit of time out to digest your diagnosis and try to come to terms with it.

If you have a look at our mother site I'm sure you will find lots of interesting information on there fmauk.org

You have a lot going on at the moment which will not be helping your pain and fatigue. Stress does make Fibromyalgia worse.

There are benefits that you can claim, but each individual case is taken on how your condition affects you.

We do have some forum friends who have been retired due to ill health. Hopefully you will get a reply from one of them.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Thank you jan. I need some time to digest and get to know this fibro. It's nice to read what others are going through so I don't think I'm going mad. X
