Does anyone work from home? If so what do you do?
I do this here at FibroAction! Being an Admin here is virtually a full time job Sarah, but I love it fortunately!
I am looking for more work to do at home though, I am from a PA background, so admin or secretarial appeals to me too. Jobs at home aren't easy to come by, especially when we have Fibro!
It would be nice to have a little filler-in that brought in a few pennies too wouldn't it.
Any ideas appreciated!
Yes it is very difficult to find work, I have tried in the past by sending my CV off to local companies but got no response and they didn't even know about the Fibro/ME! I only want a few hours a week just to take the pressure off my hubby more than anything.
If I find a solution I'll let you know xx
Yes, I completely agree, those are my reasons too!
I am not on any benefits and feel like I'd like to do a bit to help especially as we've just moved and everything seems to have broken down lately - washing machine, central heating and hot water, car, we even had a flood coming through the kitchen ceiling last week! It's cost a fortune!
Thank goodness I love my new house! xxx
Thanks Sarah, I will keep my eyes peeled too and let you know if I find anything that might suit us both! xxx
I do not work from home as I find it hard to any one thing over and over again. I hope you find something soon and good on you xxxxx
Hi Sarah. Have you thought about doing virtual pa work? It's becoming increasingly popular, and with new technology, phone calls and emails can be dealt with from anywhere. All you need is a few self-employed people who want someone to sound professional on the phone, respond to emails on their behalf etc. maybe you and Liberty could do it between you, covering for each other on 'bad days' holidays etc.
In the good old days when I ran a real business, we used to use a service like this when we wanted to go away. Good luck with finding something that suits.
xx
Hi Kaz, yes this is what I want to do but it's incredibly hard to find any companies/businesses that will provide this kind of work x
Hi all
I am sitting here thinking what a great idea KazF.
I am not able to do any work anymore and unfortunately it is not going to get any better but I have never heard of this Virtual pa work but I imagine in todays technology this is a great idea, and you can improve it no end with Skype, conference calls etc.
I just thought also when I was a kid my mother had a secretarial business but she also wrote (or rather typed out) the manuscripts for an author and a few University papers for the students, these would be a bit easier with todays technology as you can trawl the Colleges and Uni's and try other things like that.
Kindest regards
Terry
Thanks Terry, I've also tried this. Because of today's technology most students type their own uni work and I've also contacted many publishing companies but with no success, it's not as easy as it may seem.
It's not as easy as you would think trawling Universities and Colleges, they have their own stipulations and tend to take on established freelance proof readers and editors. It's getting that experience that's the problem. They don't really take into account experience from over 25+ years ago. Someone is needed with knowledge of all modern technology and equipment.
Exactly Liberty. It is not easy and I have been trying now for 3 years since I had to give up my job. People do have their own people to do these things. Even though it is only 3 years since I left work technology does move on and there are people out there with more up-to-date experience x x
Absolutely, but we will keep looking! xxx
