Is neuralgia in in neck and shoulders part of fibromylgia .
Yup I am lucky I finally got seen by a consultant at my local pain clinic and I get 3 monthly trigger point injections in my neck and shoulder.... My muscles constantly spasm and when I touch the base of my neck it's like electric shocks. These injections help so much
Hope that helps

Hi 51 61 in response to your neck, yes fibro attacks anywhere it wants to,theirs nothing spared. Some people are comfortable with injections of the spine and so forth, that's okay but i'm afraid i don't like the idea,it has been suggested by my doctor but i told him i couldn't cope with that ,he understood and left to see how i got on with the pain.Sometimes watching tv is painful or what i'm doing now at my computer or reading anything using the neck.Have to see my doc next week got a list of ailments to put forward,it's difficult ,that's what fibro is,i think i take a lot of tablets don't know if they are doing good or not only way to find out is to come off them,i don't think so.I do suffer in silence to a point ,i don't for a long time want morphine or the likes till i'm bad enough, hope that doesn't happen,i'm not holding my breath, fingers crossed, loads a love jacksiex.
I have had the neck pain and headache/shoulders for over a week straight, tried stretching ect..last night i took paper towel and got some Vic's vapor rub on it and put it on the back of my neck and LITTLE bit on my forehead and i actually in time felt better last night, then today i wake up an neck still feels good, but i can tell its gonna come back i feel its on its way.so im going to do it again before it gets me,to see if i found a solution..if you have sensitive skin dont use it,itll cause burning...Good Luck !!
I have had solid shoulders for many years, I tried osteopathy, just had a very expensive bill, not a great deal of relief. The most successful thing I have tried is heat, I use an electric heat pad placed on my shoulders and back and the warm really does relax you, in turn eases the pain. Its cheap and not intrusive.
I was watching a documentary about Fibro, an American doctor says that there is no evidence that injections into the muscles using, steroids, or pain killing medication has any affect what so ever. It may give relief for a while but soon becomes painful, they just put a needle in the muscle not injecting a thing same affect relief for a short while. I would love to know what "verygrumpy" is getting sounds interesting if it works.
