i have had a date for my medical which is sun 28th oct . should i be insisting on a a rheumatologist do my assessment .any other advice?

Do you mean for ESA or DLA? You can try asking for a Rheumy but you normally get pot luck. You can ask if they have knowledge of fibro and any other illnesses you have and if their specialisation is far away from your problems ask for someone with more specialist knowledge. Unfortunately the power all seems to be with ATOS and the DWP and there is very little we can actually insist upon.

If you are asked to do anything you cant manage dont just wince and be stoic ... say it hurts and that you can not do any more of that particular movement or position. You have to make it very easy for them to judge you fairly!

when I spoke to ESA/DWP they said it depends on your conditions whether you get a doctor, but not sure you can insist on a particular type of doctor. my understanding is they should be proficient in all conditions!

I was going to insist I was seen by a doctor but they had already marked my file for one.

I would have thought they would be better to have doctors who can cover all conditions, as fibro effects so many others.

I can only assume the weekend work is so they can catch up with the backlog.... no comment on the weekend overtime bill though!!!

thanks , i was bit surprised they put down for a sunday afternoon too.im not looking forward to it because im getting over a jaw operation as well which has increased my fibro and because of my fibro my jaw is not opening as wide as most peoples would by now so im juts going to get stressed at the process and all for £18.00 per week as i have not been fit to work for 2 years now
