I don't know a great deal about it. My friend in Illinois is currently having Infusion treatments for Fibromyalgia. She seems to spend a few hours in a hospital on a drip whilst drugs are fed into her slowly . It was for her a lengthy procedure, but she has reported very postive results from it. I have no idea what the procedure is here in UK

I am waiting for this type of infusion, it is of Lidnocaine ima suspension fluid, the infusion is due to last 2 hours and after that an hour rest before being allowed home. In the past I had the infusions of Lidnocaine that meane a week in hospital you had 6 infusions 1 each day and on the drip for approx 8 hours a day, each day the amount of Lidnocaine was increased. I had them every 6 months. I had great pain relief from them for a few years but towards the end asked not to have my due 1 and felt no better or worse, and as there can be a lot of side effects especially heart problems which were a big problem

In my family I decided to stop them. They no longer do these long week infusions at the hospital I was attending in Dudley West Midlandsim not sure if used anywhere else. I digress I am currently attending the City Hospiyal in Birmingham and have been waiting since May for my appointment I am only coincidering Lidnocaine again as I had a shoulder operation in Dec and a piece of my collar bone was removed and I am in a different kind of pain I have never experienced before so thought I would try it again as with a hand control car I have been unable to drive since Dec I am

Going stir crazy hope I helped and didn't confuse you more. I have a sheet from

dr about infusion if you would like me to email it to you plz lmk

Hi Tiredgal, I have been offered it to, but I have turned them down! You go into hospital for the day while they put it in, my friend had it done and it was put into her spine. There can be side effects but the reason I turned it down was once its in its in and theres no turning back! so if the effects are so bad you have to wait for maybe three months onwards for it to ware off! My friends, the first one was fine, the second was bad, she couldnt walk at all or feel her legs for three weeks. So if you are considering it have a long hard think about it first!

Thanks to those who replied to my question regarding "infusion", where, what n how. Will have a good think on this. sadoldred maybe your second friend was unfortunate to have a misplaced insert point in her spine(hope not).Different treatments work differently on different people, anything is worth a try.ksmiles i do hope your appointment comes through soon and good luck. I am due next week to visit gp and discuss blood test results. I dont really know what gp is going to suggest
