I got the initial letter, filled in the great long mahoosive form then about a month/6 weeks later received a letter with a decision - no medical assessment - that they had put me in the WRAG. I am appealing this to be placed into the support group and have just sent off the appeal notice...

Good luck :-) xx

daughter has just filled in hers 2 weeks ago, had a meeting with an adviser at the social ( hers is a claim after being on esa then stopping because moved in with partner and reapplied before 6 months of last claim) and they said atos have 3 months to do medical / make a decision, they can still call you in after 2 months and 3 weeks for a medical so could make up their mind at any time in that 3 month window!

the official ruling is they have 91 days to make a decision on your claim, so if they decide you have not given enough information they should arrange a medical within this time. after a medical they have a further 21 days to make a decision on the report. my expereince is that they work to how they feel at the time. initialy they waited 126

days to arrange medical then informed me the next day i was fit for work. which i appealed and 12months later this was overturned by tribunal and placed in wrg. while awaiting appeal i found out that when my condition deteriated i should have made a new claim which i did so at time of appeal i was already in the support group. but it was after having second esa medical i found out about the timings they must work to. hope that this helps
