I was just wondering and if anyone has any idea about this please let me know but I was reading about Royal Mail opening and sorting ESA claim forms . Does this not breach data protection guidelines ? Why should a third party ie R Mail have access to very confidential matters

It sounds like it's legal, and I have to say that - having worked for the Post Office for a while - they do all have to sign data protection and confidentiality documentation that 'should' prevent them from being able to pass on any information they get from a work setting.
That said, they're only human, and the danger is that someone who knows you - directly or indirectly - may be responsible for sorting your mail, and hence the ESA forms. Not a nice position to be in.
Maybe get in touch with your MP and see what they have to say on the matter?

Thanks Ellen I read that but am afraid I distrust any of them I'm sorry to say.
I don't know anything about ESA, not even what it is, but I didn't know the PO could open ANY mail and think it's apalling if they can!!!
