I was told that coz my carer earns more than £100 per week he is not entitled to Carers Allowance. My Inc Sup Severe Disability was effected by him moving in. Meant I lost about over £40 per week. So you could very well be affected. However, you need Benefits Advice. My carer works nights and looks after me during day. Good luck.
Hi Caren,
I'm on IS and DLA and I'm studying part-time for a degree. Because of my fibro I get a lot of support from my university and I absolutely LOVE my course but its not easy. I get incredibly tired even though I only have 6 hours of lectures etc a week you have to add in quite a few more hours for homework. Studying part-time means that it takes 6 years to complete the course (I'm 4 years in) and at times that feels endless. I'm getting increasingly more tired with each year that passes, pretty much hibernate every summer, have lost touch with many of my friends because I don't have any energy to socialise and because you are expected to complete the course within 6 years there's very little wiggle room - I nearly gave up part way though the last academic year because I couldn't cope, it was only encouragement from my lecturers and university disability advisor that kept me going - and they gave me extra time to get my work finished.
Good Luck if you decide to do some study especially as it sounds as though you're already pretty busy! Please feel free to ask me questions if you think I could help.
