In pain
hiya Elaine-I quite often have this complaint as if I'd been carrying something heavy, it comes and goes-take care Julie x
Have you mentioned this to your doctors? All new symptoms should be checked out properly.
Fibro itself doesn't usually cause predictable localised pain (ie. pain that doesn't jump around) but there are other conditions that can be knock-on effects of having Fibro that cause localised pain. Myofascial pain is very common for this. Also, many people with Fibro are also hypermobile and this can put you at higher risk of tendonitis and joint injuries.
It is important to identify exactly what is causing the pain as you can then target treatments for it. For instance, myofascial pain, though a common symptom with Fibro, is actually a condition in its own right that requires its own treatments.
i must say my old doctor if i went to her with new pain would say oh its ONLY fibromyalgia!! if it is a new pain get it checked out , i think if my head had fell off my old g.p would have said ,oh,it's ONLY FIBRO!!!
The feeling I often get is like having "bricks inside my forearms" -- is that how yours feels Elaine? This can happen even when I haven't been carrying anything!! I no longer "bother" my GP -- if it goes away by itself then I just say to myself FM "popping up" in my arms today! If it continues for any longer than maybe see yr GP.
YES i certainly do Elaine, where is your GP centre ? Do you go into Mansfield or elsewhere?
Gentle hugs x x
Yes I only live over the road from my GP surgery it feels like I've been carrying a load of heavy bags but I haven't. Ill see how it feels nxt week if its still the same ill go and see him. Never had this before but its very painful thankyou everyone for your replys you've all been very helpfull.
Luv Elaine xxx
Hi elaine
I have xactly the same problem it feels like uve been lifting heavy weights and its sore when you raise arms above a certain level. Its comes and goes and when its present i cannot even carry a light carrier bag and I loose power and flexibility in my hands; ive scalded myself a few times by loosing my grip whilst drinkin tea, so be careful. I too have always thought of this as just another fibro symptom but after reading some of the helpful comments to your post, i'l def be checkin it out with my gp to rule out any other causes. Thanx guys for the advice and hopefully your pain eases soon elaine
Take care Dixie x
I started off with the exact pain in my forearms - I now have it in my upper arms also; like I've been doing heavy weights, even when I'm just lying in bed. Also have very tender spots on my upper arms as if I've been badly bruised. I take Paracetomol which hardly touches the pain though. My GP is referring me to a Physio, although goodness knows how I'm going to be able to do any exercises she may give me. I was a swimming coach/teacher and loved to swim; however, I can't use my arms much any longer. I'm fortunate in that my GP has always been so supportive of my CFS/FMS, Hope your GP is supportive Elaine - it really helps! (o:
I have had major problems with arms and hands. Now it badly affects my shoulders where the pressure points are so cant lift anything, cant carry a cup of coffeee a few yards to front room otherwise I drop it or scald myself. My carer and friends carry everything. What bugs me is that I cant even hold a baby or child. Everyone just yells at me if I try or lift something coz they know that the pain will go through the roof and just go on for weeks on end. I use a heated pad on arms and shoulders, which eases it. It actually feels like nerve pain in shoulders (like shingles which I had years ago in my right shoulder). G.P thought was frozen shoulder but then it changed and Physio just said it was Fibro and dont come back for anything else because it will just be fibro nerves going berserk. So does that mean if I break my leg I cant go back. Fed Up. x
