shingles
I personally don't get Shingles, but I am sure if any of our members do, they will post on this thread. In the mean time here is some info about Shingles and Fibromyalgia -
Shingles is a painful rash that affects the band area of the body and also some facial nerves, particularly around the eye and down the face. This condition is the reactivation of the virus that causes chicken pox. When the rash is not treated immediately and antiviral antibiotics are not given with 72 hours of the appearing rash, the condition escalates into a nerve pain called post herpetic neuralgia after the rash subsides. This neuralgia can last for weeks or years, and can recur, especially during times of stress.
People with autoimmune diseases and compromised immune systems are more prone to Shingles. Since the virus may reactivate during times of stress, Fibromyalgia sufferers are vulnerable as well - thus linking Shingles to Fibromyalgia.
Hi Tofty, yes, I have had shingles 7 times now, starting at age 18, and I am 52 now.
It always makes me feel very ill, with fever and even more aches and pains, and I usually get it after severely stressful episodes in my life.
Although some people get it from being ill from other illnesses, I totally agree that it should be treated within 72 hours, the only time I did not manage that, has left me with post herpetic pain, especially if I am very tired.
I am so sorry if you are suffering this, but it is possible that it might go away this time to never come back. My last episode was 7 years ago now, so here's hoping!
best wishes from Cazx
Hi Where about are your blisters?
My grandad used to get it over his back.
Very painful.
LibertyZ, I completely agree with autoimmune disease and viral reactivation link. If you have any link for this, please do post. Many thanks.
Take care.

I get shingles regularly when I am run down. It appears in a small circle of blisters just above my buttocks. I have had it as many as 5 times in one year whilst going through a divorce. It makes my hip very painful. Thankfully it's down to a couple of times a year now.
