ive been prescribed trazodone hydrochloride is anyone taking this drug? is it ok?

Hi bellablot I have been on Trazadone for a out 2 years. all it has done is help me sleep a lot better wich helps me deal with things a lot better

By definition - Trazadone Hydrochloride is an oral antidepressant (trade name Desyrel) that is a nontricyclic drug. It can be used as a sedative to help with sleep problems. It can have hypnotic effects and is supposed to work on the basis that by treating severe depression you also decrease a person's pain threshold.

ive been on it for a while now and with it i get 8 hrs sleep a night. if i dont take it i get about 2 hrs! if its been prescribed - try it - just remember not every medicine is for everyone. i do hope its good for you!

no. originally i was on 300mg per night, as i ve reduced the amount i dont get dopey the next day either. xx

I've been taking one at night for a month and I think it's brilliant. it really helps me get a good nights sleep but I've found I need to take it once I get in to bed if I take it earlier and don't go to bed the effect wears off and I'm wide awake again.

i took it at 9pm last night and was still awake at 2 this morning, where as amitiptiyline made me sleepy and nod off but constantly woke up, i suppose it just needs getting used to, but thank for your input xx

Hi Bellablot,

It sounds to me like you need to go back to your GP and discuss whether you need a higher dose.

I only get about 3hrs a night and haven't found anything yet, that does the job without turning me into a zombie all day.

I haven't tried this one so might ask my GP if I can.
