Friday I had surgery for carpal tunnel, (so typing 1 handed). i had local anesthetic. quite successfully, today i feel rather battered and bruised, immensely tired from taking max paracetamol, and Tramadol, and yet i can only snooze for about 15 minutes! i did sleep quite well through the night, but never moved so woke with pain in my hip :=( Can anyone tell me if they feel recovery from surgery is worse/ delayed due to fibro?

Hello Stormylady, thanks for your message. I think the automatic answer to your query would be a definite Yes! People with Fibromyalgia do generally report that post operatively it's harder to recover than they would have before having Fibro. Our pain levels are fairly acute before surgery and this seems to kickstart all our nerve endings etc after surgery. It will settle down in a while and you will return to how you were with your Fibro before surgery. If you are really suffering and cannot manage have a word with your GP who hopefully may reappraise your pain relief meds or give you something to help with your sleep. Hope you feel better soon, take care of yourself.
hi there!
i had a hysterectomy 6 weeks ago. i had a vertical cut from belly button down to my pelvic bone - nice!! i had no FM pain for the first 3 weeks, bliss! but then it started - my shoulders are howling again. i have about 3 good days then a day where i am wiped out. i think its going to be a good few weeks before i can function 'normally' again! xx
Definitely I have had 11 ops and I take weeks to heal and the scars stay purple and raised for about 7 years before finally turning to thin white lines ... My gall bladder scar is 7 years old and just starting to turn white had terrible pain for weeks with that one
