It was called off the day before. Reason? The medical assessor had called in sick and all appointments had been cancelled.....oh, the irony, eh lol?

At least I wasn't kept hanging around unnecessarily :-D

Meanwhile, I hope everyone's having a good weekend xx

Something serious I hope........ lol.

Last time I went for one they were running 2 hours late , the people in front of me had their assessments cancelled but they decided to let me go ahead ( at the assessor's insistence ) , she told me it was because she knew how stressful it was for people with multiple conditions and agoraphobia , which I thought was really nice of her . I wish they could all be like that , the assessor before her was a complete ************ !

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who they muck about with. Last year I had my appointment I had to drive 20 miles find a parking space which was up a steep hill it cost £3 to park then I had to walk down the steep hill it was very windy which did not help. I found the building got inside only to be told that mine was cancelled due to someone being of sick ( what a joke). They told me they had phoned me to let me know half hour before I got there I pointed out that the whole journey door to door takes over an hour. I asked why they didn't phone me first thing in the morning when they found out the dr was Ill, they couldn't answer that. They told me I could hang around for 2 hours and see if they could fit me in or I could get another appointment and come back another day. Well I don't know about you but for me hanging around in a waiting room for hours does not do you any good so I waited for a new appointment. Oh and they would not give me the money for parking and petrol I had to see the dr first I think they think we are made of money. So I waited for my next appointment it arrived I went only to have the exact same problem someone was off sick. This time they had sent a letter to let me know it was cancelled I did not get this until I actualy got home and found it on the door step. I still didn't get the money for petrol and parking. I made sure this time I got their phone number so I could check for myself on the day of the next appointment that it was still on. So third time lucky I phoned got told it was on and went for my appointment I was in the waiting and another person came in only to be told her appointment had been cancelled she was not happy so I told her what had happened to me and sugested she got their phone number. So in total my medical 2 nearly 3 months to get done then when I finally got seem it lasted 10 mins. I have just had a new assessment form sent out so it looks like I have to go through the same thing all over again. Good luck with yours I hope it all goes well for you.

Hiya, I'm a newbie on here and would like to spread the word about your rights for the Atos medical. Phone them and request that your assessment be recorded, and to check if your assessor has sat and passed the Fibro Module. Great if you have already done this, it is our rights that they don't tell us about.

Hi Lillith,

firstly hello and welcome to this amazing site, you're certainly among friends here. have a giggle, moan, get useful info or just know you're not alone.

Re Atos, it appears all is not what it seems, i googled recording Atos medicals, what a revelation..they try any and every trick in the book to avoid it it seems.

wonder why they don't want them recorded...oh because it would expose them as the liars they are, lol just call me cynical.

I attended a medical 2 years ago and what they wrote was a complete work of fiction, over turned on appeal 13 months later. just been for another and as per previous posts was a total shambles, sent home with dangerously high blood pressure..at their expense, so i eagerly await the brown envelope and its nil points. :-{ xx

Well!!!!Ironic to say the least, seems as if it's one rule for one and b***er the rest. I had to cancel my medical due to the stupid time, i had an initial phone call to book an appt and all they could offer me was 9 in the morning, when i said no way could i make it as it was a 2 hour journey by public transport, she rather sharply and offhandedly said "oh well, we'll send you an appt and you'll have to phone, cancel it and make another". BUT, be aware you can only change these appts once!!!! She really couldn't have cared less.

Eventually got one at a reasonable time..but what a shambles as per previous posts.

hey ho such is A...toss, a lot on here have fallen foul of them.

Makes me so cross as there seems very little we can do.

Take care

Interesting - this week, I got my revised appointment for the assessment, this time for the end of July.

I have just this minute phoned Atos to request that audio equipment be used for rejigged assessment.

As a consequence of my request, that new appointment has been cancelled and a further new one will have to be issued, to give time for the audio equipment to be sent to the medical centre and installed there!

well I've been to'ing and fro'ing with Atos about the medical appt. they phoned me back and told me that audio equipment was not possible at the medical centre nearest to me (10 miles away) and told me that I would have to go to Plymouth (40 miles away), over an hour's drive. Feels a bit obstructive, does it not?

hello all xx

a quick update on my Atos assessment: after speaking to Atos's special office which arranges recorded appointments, we agreed I could do any date in early August but that there were 2 specific dates I couldn't do as I already had medical appts. the tone of the conversation was almost them urging me to go to the local medical centre and not Plymouth, but I persisted with my request for a recorded assessment.

A letter duly arrived last week giving me an early date in August, in Plymouth, for

me to present myself at 11am - meaning an early start to the day for me to get there in time, but no matter...

Then yesterday, I had a phonecall from Atos to sort out an appt for me to see the assessors in Plymouth! I was like WTF??? They then told me that the appt I'd been sent had actually been cancelled the moment it was booked and that the letter was automatically generated anyway!!

So after a bewildering conversation about dates I still couldn't do (they'd misinterpreted the answers to their own questions to me lol), it was agreed that THE person who books recorded assessments would telephone me with a further new date, which would be followed up in writing. I asked how I would know whether the appt was really an appt if they cancelled written appts summarily? The person on the phone couldn't answer me lol.

It remains to be seen what happens next...
