Went to pain clinic yesterday and was given gabapentin for pain relief. Was wondering if anyone has taken this medicine and did it help them with there pain or sleep.

Hi josie, there are a few members taking gabapentin. I did take them for a while but i am allergic to some of the ingredients so had to stop but the pain although didnt go entirley theydid help reduce it a lot. I have more than FM so am effected by pain pretty severly.

good luck with gabepentin though, there is also its sister drug pregablin which can work.

I call it my wonder drug. Its fantastic for my nerve/burning pain. Somepeople dont agree with it and i have put a bit of weight on with it.

Im on the max dose of 3600 but it doesnt do anything for me

Hi JOsie, we are all individuals with regards our tolerance to all medication.

I have been on Gabapentin for quite some time and I am totally ok with it, I take lots of other medication as well and have no problems.

Hi I was given gabapentin the dose starts of small and slowly creeps up. I had to stop taking them after a few weeks as they didn't agree with my ibs. I was in the toilet all the time ( my ibs is bad enough as it is ).if you haven't tried it yet ask you doctor for amitriptyline I take 50mg three hours before I go to bed and they do help me with my sleep.

Have been given Ami to take and was taking 40mg a night and it made no different at all, it was like taking nothing at all.

Will try the gabapentin, just hope it helps.

Hi, I've just started these tablets yesterday, I think because of severe nerve pains in my head and legs, I'm hoping it works for me without ant side affects as there does seem a long list of them on the leaflet? Took my first one last night did sleep well, but still have head pains, hope it works for you xxxxxxx
