Hi Lexie, I work 3 days a week as a recruitment officer. I have told my company (I am self-employed) that I have Fibro, but I don't often mention it and try to hide it as much as I can. Even though it is a small friendly office and everyone is really friendly I don't think they would want me complaining all the time. So I put on a smile and my make-up and get on with it! x
I work 16 hrs spread over three days. My employers know. The plus side being thehelp I get, new chair, wrist support, more flexible hour etc. The minus side is the bitching by the other staff, mostly behind my back so I cannot answer! They also sent an e-mail to the Divivsional Director of HR at head office without the supervisors knowledge compleaining that I wasn't capable of doing my job. This was just after I had returned aafter an extended sick leave due to FMS and Depression. Because of their attitude I am now off sick again fighting ti keep myself in gainful employment!
I am working 20hrs a week and have told my employers about the FM. They have been really understanding and alowed me to reduce my stress levels at work and reduce my hours from full time. They also provide wrist supports for keypad and mouse. My colleagues are amazing and are always on at me to take my "rest" breaks. Think it would be impossible to work without my employer knowing as they are also understanding when I'm enivetibly off sick.
i was workin 4 big supermarket on full tym hours up2 a 8 months ago, i tryed doin a back 2 work sceme which would have been fyn if i only dealt with my manager other than all managers within the store i worked 2 days 1 week then a few weeks afta that i worked 3 day's prob was i went bk in oct so with xmas comin up i was gettin forced 2 get bk 2 my full tym hours asap.
my personnel manager is nice we keep in contact my job is still there 4 me which i appreiciate but im 2 scared 2 bk coz o the backstabbin from other staff member's an a few of the other manager's were tryin 2 put on2 other departments but w my fibro + socail anxiety i always had panic attacks in places i didn't feel comfortable.
i would like to work but i would never make it in, so much pain and no sleep . Iwould be lucky to get there for 3 in afternoon and last a hour xx
I thank you for answering , i was not having a dig i really wanted to know how employers handled FMS gentle dyslexic hugs.
hi seems like keeping quiet is the way to go ... how sad in the way of dysability rights .. however i will await to see if i get anymore answers ..

I work 40 hrs a week as a stock controller at a plumbers merchant. My employers know about my rheumatoid arthritis but not my fibro, I don't think they'de even know what it was. I've also seen the company doctor as I was off a sick a lot, he said things needed to be put in place but it's been up to me to sort it, I've never even heard from our HR about his report. I have wrist supports for my computer, I don't have to wear steel toe Capp boots and I don't have to drive the fork lift trucks. I want to know what rights I have and who I speak too.
I work in a prison it's very stressful and at times heavy,
I work as a nurse, only 22 hours,
It seems to catch up with me I am able to cope for a while
And then I have to go sick I don't know how long they will
Put up with that, they have been good in the fact that I
Never do two shifts together but that's a recommendation
Form occy health.
You would think that the medical side of my job would be
Understanding but no one understands what fibro is and
Most think it's some thing you get from sitting with a window
Open, when you get it in your neck and shoulders, I have
Given up saying go and read about it as people think because
I look well it's in my head never mind that I look so tired that
I have a problem keeping my eyes open
You can only hope that the future for us is a better understanding
You do have rights in every job, mine is to be sent to the occupational
Health, They then interview me and then have to suggest to my
Employers how to make my life better. But I expect every firm
Has different ways but the have to help you that's the law.
I ued to work as a locum Pharmacy Technician and somedays would drive 75 miles before starting work and then have a full days work and then the drive back/ it was a standing job no chsnces of sitting down so with much regret I had to finish, for which I was extremely sad.
But on a brighter note I am now working voluntarily as an accredited Tutor for EPP or learning to live with chronic conditons, which I enjoy immensley.
I work.in a school 30 hrs a week 42 weeks.a year all my colleague'sare so helpful and although I don't say they can tell if I'm having a bad day and help where they can x
glad your all working thanks for taking time out to reply sometimes it feels like its not great to work as it kills me then i have a good day and it works well ..
