Having had a lovely (hot!) week in Scotland and celebrated my 60th birthday with relatives I am now having my assessment tomorrow.
I have a load of letters from different consultants - fortunately we keep copies of everything so I have correspondence that confirms that Prof Hughes from St Thomas' told occupational health ten years ago that I was to retire from my teaching job on medical grounds and numerous letters from other consultants since showing that my condition has deteriorated.
The whole thing is bizarre but I will have to through with it.
The doctor's secretary said all the GPs at my surgery are fed up with all the forms they are having to fill in (for free) so I wonder how long before the GPs tell DC where he can stuff their forms!!!!!!
Wish me luck! Any last minute tips welcome.

Be honest and tell them EVERYTHING in full detail even when they're not asking!
Beware of the leading questions they ask by making you feel horribly embarrassed about being disabled eg
"You don't have any problems with this do you?" "I'm sure you can do this can't you?
Don't be embarrassed about answering honestly and openly about your disability...if you have problems with daily tasks/things, say so...It's possible to make the mistake of not answering entirely honestly eg I was too embarrased as a result of their clever leading questioning (it does work...it makes you feel really horrible for being disabled!) And this of course affects your award.
