Aching muscles and upset tummy

Hi , Just wanted to know if I am going crazy!

Sometimes the muscles in my back and neck hurt so much, it makes me me feel sick and shaky. And then my tummy gets upset and I need the loo several times. Is it normal to get these symptoms , does any one else suffer with this, I seem to go from constipation to the extreme opposite!

Thx

The tummy symptoms you describe sounds very similar to irritable bowel syndrome (I B S), have you spoken to your doctor about this? If not, please go and see them, and let us know how you get on, there are treatments that can help irritable bowel. Xxx

Hi,

Yes I am seeing a consultant on the 2nd Aug.

Will get back to you.

Is it associated with fibromyalgia then?

I believe that the 2 conditions very often go "hand in hand" . I was diagnosed with Irritable bowel syndrome when I was 18years, but did not get a fibromyalgia diagnosis until I was 45, but thinking back I experienced leg muscle pain when in my teens, I was told these were" growing pains". I suggest you keep a pain and symptoms diary between now and your consultant appointment, which you can show him or her. Hope it goes well x

Thank you, I will let you know. When you have a couple of symptoms it's very difficult to decide what is more important to get sorted first. This tummy thing can be quite inconvenient and embarrassing and also need to rule out nasties!

I always feel a bit of a fool keeping on complaining about things at the Doctors, but I suppose that's what they are there for. Thx for chatting.

Yep! And some of the meds don't help either.

I agree that it sounds like IBS. Sadly another delight in the Fibro arsenal lol 🐸

It is related to fibromyalgia then 😞

More than likely hunny. I think that most of us suffer from IBS in one way or another.

But, mention it to your GP next time you see them. No need to make an appointment just for that, but when you next have an appointment bring the subject up 🐸

I don't have this problem and sorry to hear that you do.If it continues may need to ask gp as it could cause you to become dehydrated.Good luck.Peck 5

Hi there

As for the neck and back pain when we are in pain we hold our bodies stiffly which tightens the muscles in our neck and back which then means we get pain there.

I agree with the others that your tummy troubles sound like classic IBS.

IBS is not Fibro related as such as there are no set Fibro symptoms other than pain and lack of sleep.

That is why Fibro is so hard to diagnose.

Have you ever tried Imodium for diarrhoea? It is very effective.

I wish you all the very best in finding the answers that you need.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Hi Lu,

hope you don't mind me questioning what you said in the above post "IBS is not Fibro related as such as there are no set Fibro symptoms other than pain and lack of sleep".

I always thought, and it also states in FMAUK a list of other symptoms, including IBS. I know that we don't always get ALL the other symptoms, but we can and do get some of them.

Take care.

GP. 😊😊

That's exactly what I meant. Not everyone gets every single one of symptoms listed.

Apologies if you didn't understand.

Hi Funkyfaerie

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering and struggling in this way, and as Lu says many Fibro sufferers also endure the nightmare or IBS. I would talk to your doctor about this just to have other medical conditions ruled out of the equation though?

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you
