hi lollypop i swim twice a week i find it realy good although there r times im to excausted to do anything just need to c how i feel from one week to another hope this is of some help o u xx

well lollypop I'm really naughty and go against all the fibro advice, and would not recommend it. I still try, some 12 years later, to live my life as i used to, although my running days are over. I love to walk and I try to walk every day in the week, even tho I work full time. i take my little dog and we are out for about an hour a night...I'm stupid, but stubborn and refuse to give in!!

Dont follow me even if you could, swimming is lovely as is a gentle walk.

I am my own worse enemy, not helped by he fact that I have put so much weight on and i know from my past life that need to exercise to help get it off. The thing is I'm not loosing any weight......so lord knows why I'm still doing it!!

I've really done my own head in now!!

Anyhow just do whats right for you and PACE yourself, dont feel under pressure.

Ranting now......take care Jaxx ;)

lol i know about putting weight on nitemare!i try to potter at slow pace, not ready for pool just yet!hugs x&it was a nice rant !

I attend a 'self help Hydrotherapy group' at our local (15 miles away) hospital. we pay, but it isnt very much. it was set up by the physio dept originally run during their lunch times, but it's got so popular they have extended the times.

Public swimming pools are too cold for gentle exercise…. I'm not a good swimmer and am too scared to go to a public pool as i got hurt years ago by someone literally throwing their kids into the pool with no regard to who was in their way!!

Initially they get you to do several sessions on a one to one with the physio or maybe a group session, they teach you the relevant exercises appertaining to your condition, then you just book the sessions as and when you want to go…. and I have been going for about 9 years now!!

I have hip problems, so not all general exercises are suitable, but wouldnt be without my weekly hydro visit. I really miss it if they have to cancel or I cant get there.

Some public pools run special sessions for disabled people, they may offer similar sessions…. I haven't heard of any other hospitals using their hydrotherapy pools like this though…. most have shut them down due to lack of funds! At least our contribution must go some way to keeping it open for everyone. they have recently put the price up, but it still only works out to £2.50 per session…it cost more to get there! But i wouldnt be without it.

You should enquire if your hospital has a hydro pool and maybe they could set something up…. its always worth ask xxx
