Does anyone know of the consultant who is very well informed with regards to fibromyalgia in London?
There is an FM Clinic at Guys, which Prof Davies set up and used to run. I believe he now does a lot less there (he must be well over the usual retirement age by now) and his appointments are very limited, so seeing him may not be the best option in terms of continuity of care. You can however, ask to be referred to this clinic on the NHS:
Thank you so much a real help. I'm feeling desperate been turned down for dla as I have my husband with me that's the feeling I have and also because I work 3 days a week.
Thank you I have made a note of it. I feel so unwell most of the time and really feel I should progress with my claim.
Thanks for all your help!
Hi. Get the referral to Guy's hospital. I cannot recall the doctor I saw, but Prof Davies was not the head. He set up a clinic later. I was lucky in that I had insurance through being in the Civil Service. They are very good there and saved me waiting another couple of years here fro a definite diagnosis. Since then I had a further confirmation at a local Rheumatologist. You may only need a referral to the later.
Even with a definitive prognosis your DLA claim will need to be worded right about how your pain affects you daily as we are all so different.
Please read the links above and also check the tags on the right to gather all the info you need to reclaim or appeal. Good luck. Fi x
Hi Fiona,
thank you so much for all your help. I went to see my GP this morning as he has agreed to refer me to Guy's hospital to see Prof Davies or his team. I am also hoping to have an assessment from occupational therapist in my area come to my home and help decide how they can make my house easier for me. My husband thinks we should not appeal but i feel so strongly about it. I am so confused I know due to the FM i can only work part time if it weren't for the FM i would be able to work full time and do a whole lot more stuff. What should I do next. I'm scared to appeal because you have to go before a board of people sitting in front of you firing questions, this will make me feel so anxious. What do you think?

NHS Guys Hospital has an FM Clinic.
Private Clinic Harley Street.
Can you post the one you are after, if you find him?
Good Luck.
xx
Hello All,
Just to update this post; sadly Prof. Davies passed away last year and the FMS Clinic specialist is now Dr Chris Jenner MB BS, FRCA, FFPMRCA Pain Consultant
The Rheumatology department at Guys Hospital have DR Garood or Dr Irving but I do not know the names of the consultants if any at Thomas' Hospital

If you feel you need a referral you can ask to be referred to the above hospitals but the FMS clinic is currently only accepting private patients only with no Bristol clinic services at this time.
Hope this helps
