Hi ruby i have under active thyroid and i am on 150mg and have been on that for years now. xxxxx

I've had an underactive thyroid for 20+ years and I've been on 125 mcg of thyroxine for a few years and suddenly on my last test, I got a letter saying stop the 25mcg and just take the 100. I went to see my doctor and he showed me the results on his monitor and they had 'gone over' or whatever. I've no idea why this suddenly happens.

I've got no idea if you can see these posts on the thyroid group either but I wouldn't think so tbh.

Hope the above link helps! Strangely I have just got back from the doctors, and found out I have been on the wrong level of thryoxine for three months, and I had a feeling it was low and it does seem to effect my fibro when this happens.

I'm the type of person who likes to know what is going on with my health, so tend to do a lot of research, and my doctor talks to me in detail because they know I know a lot about it. If I'm not sure of something, for example like yourself when your levels dropped, I have asked for a reason, and he explained it has something to do with the pituitary gland secreting more hormone due to stress or illness (the link above tells you more) so to get the level in the body to return to normal.

My TSH level was 8.3 so hes put me up to 125mcg on the short term to help. I will have blood tests again in a couple of months to see if its sorted the problem. I hope it does!

Hope this helps a bit Sue xx

Thanks for this flower. I'll have a look at it soon. I might be in bed soon too, I'm sooo tired today.

I asked the doctor about my TSH level and he showed me the computer screen and it was 0.01. My T4 was 22.6. He did explain it to me but I can't remember what the heck he said lol.

This is a new doctor, looks about 17...... my one has semi retired. How very dare he work on the days I do and have the same day off as me! He knows I google everything and read all about as much as I can so he always asks me if I've googled it. Luckily I don't worry, I can read some pretty awful things but it doesn't bother me, I think, no, that's not what I've got.

I did go on the thyroid site but I prefer it here to be honest. Seems more friendly.

Ah, thanks Lynn, i have seen the same questions on both sometimes, so that is why i asked, along with nosiness lol,:)

Ruby, i have only been diagnosed 11/12 weeks , but have been put up from 100mcg to 125 mcg, so yours does seem quite high, but i think we all differ.

Sue, thanks for your reply , i think i would like my GP to explain the drop,

love and hugs to all, Sue.xxx

Interesting that a lot of people with fibro have thyroid problems mine was only found in 97 when I was having tests following my car accident so one good thing to come out of it I guess as goodness knows how long it would have gone undetected! Need to find out about this T3 stuff as no idea what my Dr goes on. Ruby xx

as long as you feel ok on that amount Christine, i think thats why a lot of people are not happy with their GPs, because they go on the test results, rather than how the patient actually feels, hugs.xxx
