Just incase you don't know, the UK Government are changing Disability Living Allowance to Personal Independent Payment, and in the process they are significantly changing the assessment criteria by which people qualify. Government figures suggest 500.000 people who currently qualify for DLA will no longer qualify for PIP and many who do will have their money greatly reduced cutting the budget by 20%.
The Government are currently running a consultation on the assessment criteria for PIP, allowing claimants carers and interested folks to tell them what they think of the changes. The document is very complicated and difficult to read so the people who created the Responsible Reform Report (The Spartacus Report) have created a web site that contains the Gov. original document and their unofficial east read guide, in a variety of formats, along side a forum where you can get help and support, weather you decide to respond to the consultation or not.
The new proposed assessment criteria for fluctuating conditions is quite worrying, and really needs as many to tell them that as possible. Just incase anyone here is interested please go to wearespartacus.org.uk and come and chat in the forum spartacusforum.org.uk to share any worries or ask for any advice you need... We only have till the end of April to respond but even if you just need support with the changes to benefits generally there are lots of resources available on the website, and experienced folks on the forum...Ravenswyrd xxx (Fibromite for 16yrs+)
