Sensitivity with eyesight
no, not everything is associated with Fibro
Hi Bckwood yes I have problemproblems with eyes and hearing. I have an eye test every year and found my eye sight is getting worse and I had a hearing test recently and told I have hearing loss but dont need hearing aids yet. I'm only 59 so this can't just be age. I have had fibro about ten years and it is getting worse.
yes, certainly. I call it sensory overload. Sometimes it’s certain sounds that seem heightened or so dull I can’t hear them properly. On those days I do have hearing aids which help.
My eyes are also affected by sensory overload - things become blurred or my eyes become very red. I have dry eye as well so that doesn’t help. I have different prescription glasses for good and bad days. Luckily my optician has seen me on good and not so good days. However having said this fibro is different for all of us do it’s worth getting any new symptoms checked. It’s too easy to blame fibro for everything.
For myself I am very sensitive to noise, particularly 'layered noise' such as the chaotic multiple noises we hear in say a supermarket. I tend to wear earplugs then to deaden the sounds. Also very bright colours and light ( think blinding white lights on tv screen). I have to look away, that light makes me cringe, almost a pain.
I suffer very bad from tinnitus, eye sight is very good but so experience twitching eye a lot
Yes i have to wear two hearing aids my ears itch terribly and before i lay down to sleep i have to dry my inner ear with cotton bud as they’re wet inside no wax just wet 😩 now my eyes are always dry have to have artificial tears i can’t read anything first thing in morning before i have to use my drops my eyes are always crusty in morning and they also itch and as the day goes on my focus becomes a bit blurry.
hi there, yes I have problems with my eyes. I went to the opticians and after a thorough examination he said I have bursitis! And yes it can be linked to fibromyalgia. I have to use eye drops daily and I also use a heat pad on my eyes when it’s really bad. No issue with ears yet apart from suffering with my husband having the T.v up too loud 🤣
Yes I suffer with dry eyes and they sting all the time it's worse when I have fibro flare which Is at this moment fed up with it
I have dry eyes, shermer test 4 and also cannot cope with bright or flashing lights. Also have raging tinnitus. Part of the delight of the over active nervous system we are ‘blessed’ with.
hi yes I have dry eyes and watery eyes in the same day 🤷♀️I don’t know why or how. I have drops for dry eyes part .
I have been told by several optometrists that dry eyes ar e common in people diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My dry eyes have got worse since the first diagnosis & now have to apply eye drops 4 x daily. It has recently caused a posterior vitrious detachment in one eye & I am trying to adjust to the way this has affected my sight, so do make sure you remember to use eye drops if advised. The other problem I was told is common in fibro sufferes, is difficulty driving in the dark, due to dilation problems to filter bright lights.
Hi there, you have had some helpful replies from members. I do keep up with both my eye and hearing tests but found since I’ve had Fibro I’m sensitive too flashing lights and stopped driving at night now. Hearing I still think is left behind in general my friends in their sixties have lost so much hearing but too vain too get checked as they know they would end up with a hearing aid, with technology these days it’s so advanced the aids are so tiny ,so I would say too anyone a check is so worth it, answer too your question I am a lot more sensitive since Fibro , sharp noises get me, I took a trip on some trains on the tube station in London , I was the only one covering my ears with the screeching of the trains stopping . But yes like Scooter says not everything is connected too Fibro, everybody differs. I am currently using Specsavers for both my tests ,they are excellent ,helpful and give good advice xx
