Does anyone know the success rate of a mandatory reconsideration? I have fibro as well as a plethora of other illnesses that affect my quality of life. All backed up with consultants letters and plans. I only scored 4 points when CAB thought I would definitely get an award.
My award report has lies in it. Which I can prove as I have the recording. So know exactly what was said. The fact I drive and work ( I'm on long term sick being redeployedwhich I told them) apparently means I'm OK. Is it worth doing the MR as I'm totally drained with it all!
Thanks in advance ☺️

Think it is around 20% but it can depend upon many things. If the MR is requested by someone experienced with the right phrases and how to word it then the chances would be higher than someone who has submitted their first one without the knowledge. There is guidance available from the benefits information on this site and also various other sites such as benefits and work etc.
If going down the MR route please don't use the word "lied" rather that there has been a misunderstanding and put your side forward. If you have statements from friends/family/colleagues who know you well and can confirm your difficulties and you haven't submitted them now is the time to do it.
Ah thank you for your helpful reply. I did send lots of evidence a personal statement and a statement from my husband. CAB helped with the application and said I’d done a brilliant personal statement. They said they are happy to help me do the MR. I have two new neurologist letter since my assessment so will add those. Thank you for the wording advice! ☺️
Hi Delilah162, sorry to hear you didnt get the result you should have. Its happening to lots of people and resulting in an increase in MR. There is a charity who are legally trained and can support you in a MR, they are called fightback4justice.I hope im not breaking any rules recommend these.
They have so many resources online you can access and staff who can case work with you. Good luck
Yes. Definitely do it. it's the first step towards getting your entitlement. Even if MR is refused, go for Appeal, because 70 - 80% of applications are upheld at an Appeal.
The assessors get told to refuse as many as possible to see if we have the sticking power to go right through the process.
My personal experience and subsequent knowledge is shouting out to you YES it is definitely worth going for MR. The written report I had completely contradicted the recorded assessment too. I went through it line by line and word for word listing every contradiction and “twisted narrative”. This list was 4 sides of A4 paper. It took me over a week to do it however when CAB assisted me with the MR they advised what to write in the letter requesting MR and I sent my “list” with it as well as the same supporting documentation I’d initially sent.
I was then awarded standard rate in both components.
The whole PIP process is completely demoralising but hang in there - trust me it’s worth it!
Ah right it's definitely not just me then. That's the plan for me now to just go through my transcript. It's an 1 hrs and 47 mins long!! But I didn't say what they have said I did! I'm glad I asked for the recording now. Thank you for your advice.
Hi Delilah162, when I first applied for Pip I received zero points and like you the report was nothing like what was said during the assessment and my husband submitted a letter saying what had been said. I submitted an mr and DWP gave me 10 points I took it to an appeal as I thought that I should get more points for managing medication due to my diabetes. The Judge agreed and gave me more points so I was awarded enhanced daily living and that was 5 year’s ago.
Oh fab good on you for fighting! It's so wrong how they can just dismiss what you have said and then say "I've decided you can". So hard not to take it personally.
