Have you tried doing the assessment guide on-line to see where you would gain the extra points and whether it would be enough to increase your points to go up a level? This can be a good starting point. Only you know whether it is worth the gamble or not. It may also depend on how long you have to go before you will be called automatically for a review.

Hi Dinkie, where do you find the assessment online to see if you would gain extra points? As my condition has worsened I’m on higher rate daily living but lower rate for mobility and I’m not sure whether to do change of circumstances or not. x

Did you get a copy of the assessor’s report when you were granted PIP this will show you what you scored and how far you were away from enhanced award. Any of the benefit sites have a self assessment form where you can tick the pip form boxes and at the end will give you an idea of points gained. Try benefits and work or scope.

Hi Dinkie, thank you for your reply I got 8 points for mobility. I will have a look at the sites you mentioned. x

Oops sorry I see you have been granted award until 2027 which is quite a way away. Did you have help with your original application, if so perhaps take advice from the same source.

Hello I applied for more because I was having weekly hospital visits for IV drip purposes for another illness other than fibromyalgia. I got an extra £20 month.

I wonder if it was worth all the stress and completing all the documents for £20! X

I too have worsened and am till 2027 also, would like to know what others think, Already on enhanced for mobility, If you do a mock test it comes back with I should be on the higher for daily as well

Hmmmm we all know of course that it's not quite as simple,

Hi Annak01

It’s so stressful isn’t it ? I bit the bullet last November and received my new award last May .

My issue was my mobility had deteriorated massively since my original claim . I am now awarded enhanced daily living and enhanced mobility until 2027 and was paid from November .

As a sufferer of anxiety, it was a very long 6 months but glad I did it .

My advice would be to have a look at your current award letter and compare your answers you gave then , how you would answer those questions now . That should give you a general idea if you could be entitled to more pip . If so then go for it .

I believe it’s a requirement that any changes to your condition/s have to reported anyway . When I rang they gave me a choice if I wanted to review or not .

This was my experience, hope this helps .

Good Luck x

Good morning Annak01,

I know what are you going through. I have waited way too long before doing something about it and I regret it I haven't done it earlier.

It's a very stressful process I know, but if you have gotten worse you have to tell them so that you have a chance to get more help for yourself.

Do it if you can. Once done, you won't have this burden on you anymore and maybe more help :)

An advice, be prepared!

- Have the copy of your first assessment

-ans the pip scoring points system that the assessor uses while reviewing.

Then check what has changed from your initial assessment and say it on specific words that send across your message without a chance of misunderstanding from their part, keep it short and based on your average/bad day. Don't say anything about a good day if that it's not what usually happens to you as it doesn't reflect your true daily life right? As they will be taking notes only on your good days (that we all knows they are very rare so not true to our daily life)

-I have personally written what has changed on a post it near every point so to make sure I don't forget on the day.. and so you also have a record for yourself.

I hope this helps and gives you more courage and strength to ask for the help you need.

In the meantime I am sending a big gentle hug 🤗

Take care x

For Mobility the main criteria is the distance you able to walk unaided .. i can't use aids such as a stick as I have bad neck & shoulder pains so my distance was alot less than if you say you can use an aid ! Ridiculous I know...

And to help say no changes on living so you don't have to go over that part again! See you GP to have a record of your walking struggles and just state you are unable to walk more than xxxx meters due to deterioration
