(1 of the many overlapping symptoms that come with Fibro)
I had in ear plugs and the noise reducing headphones they give you and omg the noise was so painful, it lasted an hour, the machine also has a fan blowing air in it which hurt on bare arms.
They give you a button thing to squeeze if you want them to stop, I so nearly pressed but I've waited over a year n a half for this so I had to put up with it.
I'm tired and in pain so off to bed with some meds and tv.
In the meantime here is a picture of my potted blossom that has blossomed βΊοΈ

I had one 30 years ago but didn't have Hyperacusis then so coped better back then.
I never made to my bed lol, I passed out on the sofa soon as I placed my laptop down, got woken up wee while later someone rang my door bell, I didn't answer it I just staggered to bed and fell asleep immediately again.
I know, I thought they were very slack, although tight ones hurt like crazy, they tried thick pieces of foam against each ear lol, but it wasn't comfortable and they said the headphones would be better because I would hear them talk .
Yeah I def had to go through it even though I wanted to press the button because I was so relieved that I was being listened to for a change and not being sent home saying its just fibro.
I don't know lol, π I nearly deleted it cos it was massive, I thought oh no it's taking up half the page, maybe it won't be allowed but left it there π€£π
I was exhausted after driving to the city 2 days in a row too, I passed right out yesterday after posting my post π΄.
Hyperacusis is noise sensitivity.
I have it quite extreme, along with photophobia (light sensitivity)
I was going to audiology for a couple years a few years ago where I asked to be surgically deafened/ or dampened, but they wouldn't do it, which I don't understand because they will help people hear better but not to hear less.
Yes it's good that you didn't get the fibro brush off. And thanks about the photo, it's just one I found on line, I've loads of pictures of cats on my pc, lots of my cats from when I was 3 and right through to about 16 years ago when we lived somewhere where we couldn't have pets, we could have cats now, but we go away so much it wouldn't be fair. My husband says that we are going to stop the foreign holidays next year, so maybe I'll have a cat then, or I may foster for the Cats' Protection centre near us! Though I don't know if I fostered would I ever be able to give them back! We are going to Lanzarote tomorrow, to a hotel where there are a number of cats (the hotel feeds them so they're healthy). We always give them cat treats and we have quite a following of felines when we are there! lol
Love your picture too, and Saxcat is a great name! I love listening to Saxophoneπ· and you probably already know I love cats!
So I hope that your result from the MRI will be a good one, and yes you should have a laugh about it then. π
Hi saxcat, I'm really sorry you had a horrible time having your MRI scan, I had one last Thursday & it was excellent.
Yes, they gave me a button if I needed it, the lovely chap said it might be noisy, so I just closed my eyes & went with it, I did at some point open my eyes & saw I was still in the tunnel so to speak, everytime I heard clanking or something I just thought they must be moving on to another part of me.
I was in it for nearly an hour my husband waited in the car for me.
The nice gentleman couldn't have been more polite & courteous.
