Thus was the reason I first had to have time off although I realise now I must have been having other fibromyalgia symptoms for years. At one point 1 I honestly thought I had a clot or having a heart attack as I had had clots before. As mine went all around one side and was so tender my doctor even sent me to a Breast specialist to be on thr safe side. Even breathing some days seem to be agony. Unfortunately in my case a degree of inflammation in that area has remained and I can't wear a bra. My heart goes out to anyone who has it.x

My friend who was actually fit was in so much pain literally collapsing on the floor that she rang me to go to the hospital with her. She had seen the doctor and they thought she was having a heart attack. We were there hours and she had every examination and they could find nothing. Eventually, they diagnosed costochondritis and she was off work two weeks. She still felt tender for ages afterwards.x

I understand. I too collapsed in doctors surgery. Terrible pain all they did was give me opiods. My mobility is virtually NIL. Scans show soft tissue damage. I'm stuck with this for life. I'm practilly housebound now. Wish your friend all the best from me. Thankyou

Yes that is exactly what you friend said. It was especially frightening for her as her father had onky just recovered from a massive heart attack and had had similar symptoms. People can think you are exaggerating but even breathing is painful when you are having a bad attack. I just hope over time you make some improvement. I've learnt not to do certain movements which I know starts a bad attack off and I no longer wear anything tight around that area but try to keep it warm so the muscles are more relaxed. Now I know what it is it seems less frightening.

Fortunately, my friend made a good recovery with onky a couple of milder episodes since, she was one of the lucky ones.x

I’ve had this a few times. The first time I was sitting up in bed and the pain was so severe I passed out, fell sideways and hit my head on the bedside table and gave myself concussion. This was 1995. I remember my husband not being able to travel with me in the ambulance as they thought he’d whacked me! They gave me a real grilling in the ambulance. I’ve only had it a few times since and each time thought it was a heart attack until I read more about it. It really is so painful and I’ve been so lucky not to have it for longer periods. I feel so sorry for anyone that does.

I too have this Tommygurl. It is so painful & nothing seems to ease it!

I am suffering so badly with it at the moment it feels like there is something swollen under my ribs that is pushing against them.

Take care everyone....I feel for you. x

Hi TommygurlI have had this a number of times,

My pain was taken seriously checked out at A&E.

Always check out chest pain

I hope you feel better soon.

I think pilates for hypomobility helped once pain was bearable.

Take care

I live with this to varying degrees pretty much all the time, I find yoga helps but I have to work through the pain to get some relief on the other side…but then I have to do that with all my aches, pains and stiffness. This morning’s class was 90mins of pain and now I’m exhausted but I know I’ll feel better after I’ve rested. If I don’t do it I end up worse and stiffen up terribly.

This is one of the worst for me, as a few people have said it is really scary the first few times and I got it checked out as the pain was unreal. I find certain movements aggravate it and cause a flare of it. If I get a flare of it very little helps till it settles on its own, normally by minimal activity

Mine is the same minimal activity

hi hope you don’t mind me jumping on this post but it sounds similar to what I’m going through. Can I ask if your chest is tight and wheezing too ? It’s awful 😞
