Was told I have FM yesterday,at last!and was wondering if any one uses the CBD PATCHES to help with the pain etc? I am worried as I am already on heart meds, blood thinners and Duloxetine, can I still use the Cbd patches?

I took CBD capsules and it certainly helps but found I had to keep increasing the dosage as time went by.

Hi Nannynoo02, loving the name btw! I am also on heart meds, anticoagulants and duloxetine. I was unaware CBD were available in U.K? I know when on anticoagulants unable to use anti inflammatory meds, so fairly limited as to what we can use for pain control. Would be very interested to hear if you do start using the patches if they help you?

Hi I take Duloxetine and CBD oil but don't know about the other medication you best ask maybe a pharmacist they seem to know more than the GP's

Hi Nannynoo!

I too take heart meds, my heart condition was found by taking Duloxetine and it sending my heart rate up to 160 at rest 😂 but, it also happened when I tried CBD. I did not try the patches, I tried a vape and gummies.

It also made me, bizarrely, angry. So, although it helped dim the pain a touch, for me the added symptoms outweighed it's usefulness.

I'm absolutely not saying this is what is would to happen to you, I just wanted to share an experience ☺️

Best of luck

Not CBD patches but I am prescribed lidocaine patches for localised area pain relief but they aren't particularly effective tbh. Also you have to have a 12 hour break in-between using them. They were prescribed by the pain clinic. They were reluctant to give me anything stronger (i.e fentanyl patches).

I've looked into CBD/Medical Cannabis products but have not tried them.

You can get a private prescription for Medical Cannabis products with a consultation (costly) but as far as I am aware it's just oil and bud etc but these are not currently available on the NHS.

I am prescribed anti platelet medication after having a stroke and cannot take anti inflammatory meds which limits my pain relief available. I was told that CBD/THC etc would possibly make my symptoms worse but as we all have individual diagnosis what may not be suitable for one may be ok for another. I decided not to mess around with trying it as I am diabetic, have FM, prior stroke, IBS and underactive thyroid. I take tramadol and paracetamol for pain relief. Although my heart is fine I do have an increased heart rate.

I would suggest speaking to your GP to see what drugs will interact with the current ones you are taking. Alternatively a pharmacist. I found a great product for joint pain (Devils Claw supplement) until I realised it was actually an anti inflammatory and I was excessively bleeding every time I cut or scratched myself. It interacted with the Clopidogrel I take.

Good luck.
