unexpected pain relief

here is an interesting thing.

i have atrial fibrillation and osteoarthritis along with fibro. You all know about the pain, the stiffness etc. i don’t take any meds for Fibro, can only tolerate paracetamol for pain relief (which doesn’t really do a lot for me) My cardiologist started me on a new medication to help regulate my heart rythym and help control the af. I only started it 7 days ago and I have realised my pain levels have dropped dramatically (still got pain but not off the scale) I am not so stiff, I can function! The constant pain in my neck and occiput is now just a dull ache, almost bruised feeling.

i am really hoping this is not a short term side effect …… I wasn’t expecting this, I only researched it after I noticed it, so I don’t think it’s a placeabo effect! .

There is research on the net which indicates Flecainide as having the ‘potential to regulate inflammatory-immune responses’.

i know I have low grade inflammation for over a decade - gp said it was just my ‘base line’ and not to worry about it.

Any thoughts?

Well that's great news for you. I'm so glad you are getting some pain relief - even if it was unexpected! Xx

Thank you. I am on a fibro pain management course at the minute, I started yesterday. I mentioned it to one of the nurses leading it, and she wasn’t surprised. I am just happy to be getting a bit of respite.

WOW,so pleased for you, It's amazing how good things are when you get a break from pain, I only get relief when I'm being put to sleep when I'm having a general for medical this and that, I'm on so many pain meds I hate to think what it's doing to my insides,

I keep trying to get off the main three biggies but struggle so much.

Amitriptyline, Dihydrocodeine and Tramadol, My GP and I tried cutting down, But every time I get so sick and retreat into myself, I have came to the conclusion that I am addicted to pain meds and they don't even take the pain away,

The other one is Diazepam to help my anxiety and get me to hospital appointments, I have not even gone to the supermarket for years,

So on Tuesday I've done a shopping list to make 3 meals we use to enjoy and Hubby is helping with it all,

I feel that as long as he is at my side, I'll be up for it. I'm always please to hear when someone is getting relief from all the pains
