Hi all new to the ground.I'm struggling with money and I'm going to lose my house.

I've been given a very old motorhome and was wondering if I could still claim my benefits.

Hi - I would suggest contacting Shelter england.shelter.org.uk/ if you feel you may become homeless. As far as an old motorhome goes, have you considered the impracticalities such as where would you stay & colder weather?

I'm unsure about the benefits side of things; a change of 'address' would certainly have to be reported for such as PIP, & would trigger having to go through completing a new claim form, assessment, etc., & you have to report a change of address for other benefits too. May I ask what benefits you're claiming?

Hi, from what I understandYou can claim universal credit or housing benefit to help with rent or site charges if you live in a mobile home

Naturally you will have to get intouch with your council and let them know your change of circumstances and proof of new address and site fees etc.

Has we don't knw what benifits you get. I would say you will have to let them all know your change of address too. That includes PIP If you get it.

What ever benifits you claim they will definitely need to be informed of the change in your circumstances. They would need to re assess the amount of money they pay you I would think.

Hi if you are at risk of losing your home you need to make an application to your local council, they have a duty of care to prevent homelessness. Good luck 🤞

Sorry to read this, I see you have been given some very good advice already and I hope you will get some answers very quickly from the link CM1EDSUK has posted. Hopefully it’s fairly straight forward with notification about change of address, and like Dizzy says if you get in touch with the Council there maybe help with site fees, I hope things get easier for you with bills and making this change and a better time of year too pack up and move when it’s warmer, good luck let us know how things work out . Take care.

Been through it and nobody gave me a home so they were very kind to you. I am not an expert but you should be able to claim everything, despite not having a fixed abode. It changed when people were dying on the streets. But you need advice. A government minister suggested motor homes here for the homeless, just like America, until it was pointed out that were the American motor homes are it is generally a lot warmer than here during the winter. but that is the calibre of our 'leaders'.

I was given the mobile home off a very good friend. She said we could live with her but she only has a 1 bed flat, I wouldn't want to put on her with me my husband and 3 dogs.

When something like this comes along you really find out who your friends are. I have friends that would lift and carry me but I don't allow it, their friendship is worth that much more and it means that if I ever have an emergency I have them to call on. So basically I am a selfish git.

I hope yourself, the hubby and the VIPs get a real home soon. As I said motor homes are cold in the winter.

Hi Howe78,

My guess would be you might have to get a post office box,( I think that's what it's called)

You have a secured box and you carry the key,So it may be helpfull to check around to see how much they charge and if they would call you if you have mail? Some might add a small charge to do so or they could just be nice and kind,

Before Hubby and I got sick we had the chance of buying a bus (I was a bus driver) My boss was the owner of the bus company,He said we could keep the bus there while we were fixing it up and we could stay there as long as we wanted,So we had an address too, We had everything in order finance and a chippy to help with all the woodwork the plans were drawn up, Electrics and plumbing.

I was so looking forward to the adventures ahead , WAMMO, Hello Fibro just to ruin everything, I still ask, What did we do wrong?

I'm sure you will be housed soon, I am sending you positive, love and kindness to help you through your next steps in your jouney

Take care
