Hi I have recently een diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after 2 years of pain and tests. The week before my diagnosis I found out I was pregnant, I am struggling with everything, the pain can't be managed until after I have had my baby. My living situation is too difficult and Im also trying and failing and holding down my job. Has anybody else been in this situation and how did you manage? any advice or help is very much appreciated.Thank you

If it's any consolation, many of us, including myself, don't take anything for our Fibromyalgia anyway. It is not unusual for Fibromyalgia patients to not respond to pain medication and it is also not endorsed by NICE guidance now either.I had my daughter at 38 and my son at 42 and I struggled a lot with both pregnancies but I have many other conditions aswell as fibro, which is also common in fibro patients. It was hard but I've never regretted it, being a parent is tiring anyway so I don't know how much worse it is for us as fibro patients. I did find it helpful to have something else in my life that's bigger than me and my illness, otherwise it can be all consuming.

But of course I really wanted children so I was very motivated, if you don't feel it's right for you then do what your heart says. It's a lot to take in, such big news both together.

Thank you for you reply, I do also have other things associated with Fibro and I'm sure I will manage somehow lol I was 16 when I had my daughter 25 years ago and that wasn't easy either for different reasons so if I can do it as a child myself I can do it now, sometimes it's just so overwhelming whenever the pain days are so bad. Its nice and reassuring to speak to people that have already been through it. So thank you again

My gp said to me "There are some people who are good at being pregnant and there are some people who are not, you are not". So there have it! Good luck, just keep reminding yourself it's a temporary state all be it quite a long one.

Firstly congratulations, it’s very hard trying too work ,juggling pregnancy with health conditions so totally understand how hard it must be on you right now, could your doctor give a note too have alittle time out of work? Have you any family that can lend a hand at home ? How far along are you at present? If you can ride out the 9 months getting some extra support would be very helpful , even if someone prepared your evening meal , did some laundry etc any tasks that would give you more time too rest later in the day . I wish you all the best xx

Hi yes I have help at home, my daughter lives with me and she is 25, I live in a maisonette so I'm struggling with all the stairs. Work is really helpful but just staying awake for the 8 hours a day is hard, im sure I will find a way through it all. It can feel overwhelming sometimes but I always just battle through. Thank you for your reply x
