I work part-time 4 hours a day in the afternoon. My job is not physically challenging, just mentally.I do however cover in the morning when the my work colleague has her annual leave, so it is a 9 to 5 working day on those occasions.
I struggle enough working 5 days a week,4 hours in the afternoon. It takes all my strength and energy to get up and get ready for work. I literally feel I cannot do a full day anymore. I am in constant pain, I constantly feel tired, I am unsure what to do, as my contract involves covering when my colleague is on holiday, and vise versa.
I just don't know what to do. I know no-one can make the decision for me, but I wondered whether anyone else is or has gone through a similar situation 🤔

I'm not in the same position, however I work 5 hours a day and it absolutely kills me, so I understand that anymore hours than you already have is too much for you.
My work were really strict with me and wouldn't offer me anything until I requested an occupational health assessment. Once I had had my appointment and the report came through, they then had to change things. Unfortunately, they wouldn't change most things based on 'policy', but that gives me a solid case for disability discrimination, as policy must be changed for reasonable adjustments.
So, what I'm trying to say is, request an occupational health assessment, tell them everything and tell them you cannot do any more hours and the reasons. When your report comes through it gives you a starting point to talk to your manager about changing your contract to reflect your current circumstances.
It's not much, but I hope it helps. Good luck. And remember to read up on policy, what counts as reasonable adjustments etc
Thank you for your advice, and it's good to hear your not alone and there is help out there.I will look into contacting the people who do an occupational health assessment.
I work in retail, doing 5 hours shift and struggling due to a fatigue. I have asked HR for OH referral but they refused. They done Reasonable adjustments for 1 year . Temporary reduced my contract hours. So 4 hours shift now and increased break, no heavy lifting .
Ask HR for an occupational health assessment. If they refuse then they are leaving themselves wide open to a claim under the Equality Act 2010 for constructive dismissal.
I had an assessment and the recommendations were acted upon by my employer and I have remained in employment far longer than I ever thought possible. On the other hand my late husband was subjected to terrible treatment by his company and we ended up with legal proceedings. They eventually agreed to have an occupational health assessment which upheld our claim. They tried to say that my husband's two heart attacks, GCA/PMR and cancer were minor health issues! The stress was unbelieveable but the payout helped.
