how do you get your medical file ? Do you need to pay for it?

in my area, you request by email, and then I can go to the surgery and access my medical records, there is no charge in my area, but it may be different in other areas. Call your doctor and ask.

It should be free. Quite a lot of information is easily accessible through Patient Access if your practice is signed up to that and you have also signed up. I can see all the test results from a blood test I only had on Friday! I can also see and print out everything I have on prescription. Tests and results and what is wrong with me. Hope this helps.

I’ve just done this myself. I first emailed the surgery asking for online access to my full records both past and future including conditions, letters etc. They emailed back to say they aren’t set up for this online yet but if I emailed a different department with the same request they can produce a hard copy. Did that and they just emailed back to say they use a third party to do this and they’ll email me when it’s done.
