I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 13 years ago and was prescribed 300mg Gabapentin taking one three times a day. I have really good on these until recently and just lately I have had moments, sometimes during the night when I’m getting the stabbing and scratching pains all over my back again. I wonder if anyone knows if this is a low dose that l am taking as I am thinking of asking if it’s possible to have it increased?

Gabapentin
You are still on a fairly low dose of gabapentin, so could discuss upping the dose with your gp - especially if it has helped you until now
mention it to yr dr and see if they know what causes the different pain and could it be the medication dosage? Always report new pain it goes on your medical files and as time goes on there may be a pattern forming.... or not but how would u know if u dont mention it?
hard to know if our pains are the same - but I am on 900 - three times a day - hope that’s helpful
Thanks
I was diagnosed in 2006, and given a variety of different meds over the years. Over time, your body can become 'acclimatised' to using the same type and either an increase in strength or change of meds might be needed. I took Tramadol for years until the effectiveness lessened. It can be difficult to find what works as an alternative. Im now taking 39mgs of Amitriptyline plus Codene 15mgs before bed.
What works for one person doesnt for another, plus the problems of side effects.
I hope you can get help with your meds.
You are on a low dose of Gabapentin, I started on that dosage but over the years it has been increased. I have recently had my dosage increased to 1800 mg a day whilst awaiting an appointment at the Chronic pain clinic. My body has slowly accepted 1400mg a day but is struggling to get to 1800mg as my blood pressure keeps dropping. (GP is aware of this) The plus side is my pain has improved.
I get periods of my skin itching on my back just below my neck. It comes and goes but is very annoying. Not sure if this is related to this drug!
Good luck!
