I am slowly giving up . I used to work split shifts have a toddler a preteen, 3 horses, 4 dogs an allotment and a home to run and everythig got done in a day everyday. Now your lucky if i leave the house . I lost everything my job our animals and most importantly the baby stages of my son due to fibro making me a rubbish mum. My son is going to senior school next year i am so disgraced at myself for not being the mum he deserves all he sees is a fat lazy mum... I am taking sertraline and propranolol daily which are the highest doses. I cant sleep but if i sit for more than 10 mins i just for alseep for no reason during the day...

Because of this illness i have given up many things i loved doing!

Imortantly

I have given up feeling guilty. I have given up apologising. I have given up blaming myself. I am dealing with this cursed illness the best i can, the people who know and love me,help when they can and understand the best they can.

Hope you can find a way to cope.

Ah please don't give up. We are the same on here and I can definitely say I have felt as you do some days.

Your lack of sleep may be making everything seem so much worse .. can I gently suggest you see GP about this and how you are feeling in general? There could also be another reason for how you are feeling - other than fibro.

A health professional will be able to distinguish if you need any tests etc.

Meanwhile, take care. Let us know how you are doing. 😊💐

hello Chrissy

First of all - I could have wrote your post. I was an active nurse and used to run and work full time plus bring up my young son. You aren’t alone . Are you on propanalol for anxiety or migraines? I used to be on sertraline and propanol- both caused me to be overweight . Propanalol made me so slow! And sertraline made me hungry . I got switched to duloxetine for my depression and anxiety- it also helps for pain. The great side effect I got was a lot of weight loss. Would this drug be a possibility for you? It gives me more get up and go .

For migraines I ditched the propanalol and got out on to Ajovy which is a drug that I inject once a month and it’s completely gotten rid of the pesky migraines.

I also take pregablin which is the best pain reliever I find that works (I still do get pain but take the larger dose at night so I can get sleep) this also helps with my anxiety . But it does make u feel hungry - however I try to have things that arnt too calorific to try and counteract this.

I also take Amytriptaline at night which helps pain and helps sleep .

I know medication isn’t the answer a lot of the time, but with fibromyalgia there isn’t a cure, but medication can deal with the effects. I couldn’t live without meds - it helps me to actually have a bit of a life. It enables me to go for a short walk and deal with the pain and debilitating effects of this awful condition . It also enabled me to loose 3 stone in weight and look to the future - along with some CBT.

My heart goes out to you my lovely - much love. We are all here for you

HI Chrisy13, please do not think your a rubbish mum as you would have tried too keep going until this horrid condition struck, it can change peoples lives for sure but try and think your family still love you and would be lost without you. I used too beat myself up so much and it made me so tired on top of tired , i changed my medication which has done its job for the anxiety I was having and differently take each day as it comes. Have you seen your doctor recently for a catch up and pour out your feelings and ask if there are any tweaks in medication you could try out, my heart goes out too you as I remember my son at 11yrs writing in his school diary that his mum was poorly, at the time I had not been diagnosed , what is your sleep like during the night ? Xxxx

greetings I’m surprised with that medication you can do anything? They are both medicated for anxiety, as Propanol curtails the production of adrenaline, which can make you tired and Sertraline is a SRRI and will also make you sleepy. The only thing I take for Fibromyalgia is max strength CoCodamol, which I take if my joints are stiff or I get restless leg syndrome and can’t sleep. I have taken Propanol for treating my Atrial Fibrillation (which I have had since the age of 10) but can still go running and walking and only take rarely now. I agree with others in that you should speak to your GP as these medications are not going to help much?

I bet you are a better mum than a lot of 'well' mum's out there!

Do not beat yourself up for what you don't have because you cannot do it now! You have a condition that spirals off into other conditions!👎🤦you adjust and change and don't look back, you love your sons and want the best but you are doing that,it's you and them in a team and this is your life now and I bet you are doing all the right things and he loves you right back❤it takes so long to stop beating ourselves up on not taking the hardest longest way to do things like before, think on what is important and ❤ between you🌈big hugs
