I too take venlafaxine but have suffered from insomnia for years, and my doctor won’t give me anything for it. I’ve tried all sorts of on the shelf remedies but nothings worked 😔
I second Ajay maybe it's time to add a new or change your antidepressant. You are on the lowest dose so either adding or changing hopefully won't cause you too much trouble. I found a combo of duloxetine and amitriptyline really helps my depression, pain and sleep quality. I hope you find something that works! X
I’m on a 150mg dose daily and I too suffer with lack of sleep and horrendous dreams, I want to swap on to duloxetine but the ‘Brain zaps’ you get when coming off venlafaxine are so bad I can’t face doing it, they make you feel dreadful.
Hi, I took venlafaxine, 75mgs morning and night, for depression, in fact still taking it. To aid sleep when suffering pain, I was prescribed Amitriptyline 10mgs to be taken on going to bed. This dosage was not 100% so I slowly increased it, 10mgs at a time until I found the dosage which enabled me to sleep through the night. Maybe you could discuss an additional drug, such as that, with your GP. I hope you find that GP visit successful, and you get the drug you need.
Ask your doctor about Trazodone. I have taken it every night for 20 years and sleep well. My doc prescribed it at the same time as prescribing Venlafaxine because the antidepressant can cause insomnia. It’s a very old drug which I believe is very safe.
