Go with an open mind, if you believe it won't work then it will be self fulfilling. I desperately wanted it to work for me but unfortunately the group setting didn't work for me as the constant heckling by one or two in the group made it impossible to relax and listen and participate properly. Hopefully you won't get the same experience or if there are one or two trying to disrupt the group it is dealt with properly. Anything offered is worth a try, what have you got to lose but hopefully some pain and the time taken to attend. Good luck.

You sound like you are having a bad day today , and having Fibro Fog as well.

If the Pain Clinic group meeting is today , I think you sound like you aren't really well enough to go .

If you did go during a flare , you wouldn't get the benefit from it and might be put off trying again in the future , which would be a shame because it could be a really positive thing that could make a difference to you when you are well enough to go.

If the group is today , I would contact them to cancel , of all the people you might need to cancel doing something with in the future because of symptoms this group will understand the most.

Call them , tell them what is happening and ask them to let you know when the next meeting is so that you can go to that one instead.

Don't feel guilty or bad about needing to rearrange it , these things happen with Fibro.

If the Pain Clinic Group isn't on a bad day , it is well worth trying .

Although you might feel nervous about it they will be very understanding and will welcome you.

You might learn some really good pacing techniques , pain relief tips and exercises that might reduce your Fibro Flares in the future .

You might also meet some local people that you can make friends with and get support from , or learn about local groups that you can get help from.

But it is best to try new groups , therapies or exercises on a day when you symptoms aren't playing up. Otherwise , it can make you feel worse and you might end up giving up on something that could have been good for you.

Take care and try to get a rest day today , Bee

Thank you for your message, i shall give it a go. I just get stressed out about the simplest of things like a knock on the door and my stress levels and anxiety go through the ceiling. Have a good day!

I completely understand , it must be very difficult for you , and you are very brave to try new things.Could you possibly get a friend or family member to go with you on your first visit so that you feel more comfortable and supported the first time you try a meeting.

I think that might help you a lot.

Or you could ask to have a chat on the phone with the group leader before you go , explain to them in an email about your Anxiety and this would help you feel more reassured. Arrange a time that suits you so you are prepared for the phone to ring. You could ask some questions about the usual activities there so that you won't be surprised by what happens. I'm sure if they know your situation they will do what they can to make you feel more secure.

Take care , Bee
