Just wanted to highlight this, she reveals how her struggle with fibro and RA led her to leave her job presenting Desert Island discs. In Sunday Times mag today and very interesting.

Yes, I read she is part of the Jubilee programmes next week so that’s good 👍

I knew that she had had to give up presenting Desert Island Discs because of fibromyalgia but never heard it mentioned by her again so I am glad she has done the interview. As she says it is easier to access help if you can pay for private health care and have friends in that field of work that can point you to the right specialists but even then it has taken her a few years to get on top of it.

I had never heard anyone use the term 'secondary fibromyalgia' before...is it just me or is that something others here have heard?

Probably because the Arthritis was diagnosed first, and the Fibro some years later?

Quite likely...though I had thought her fibromyalgia diagnosis came first....I have a few conditions diagnosed after fibromyalgia but no one has called them secondary...it has piqued my curiosity!😁

It just means that the arthritis was there first and likely triggered the fibro. Pre 2016 it would not have been diagnosed at all

Thanks for this info about Kirsty Young. What a gutsy lady! I wasn't going to bother or go to anything about the Jubilee in our village except the tree planting, so now at least I can try to watch her programme.

I was told by rheumatologist that my fibro was secondary. As in following several neck ops and ongoing spinal issues.makes sense, it’s a raction to traaunatic events.

Indeed ...I believe my fibromyalgia was triggered by a series of traumas...the body and emotions can only take so much before reacting this way....my other conditions were diagnosed after fibromyalgia but I'm convinced the traumas were contributing factors.

Why Kirsty and other famous people like Lady Gaga are not able to share the treatment that improved so much their quality of life?
