I’ve recently had a letter saying I’ve had a weakly Positive ANA blood test result with an anticentromere pattern. Does anyone know what this means. I’ve not got my appointment until 24th December when I go back to see the rheumatologist. Any help or advice would be really appreciated in lots of pain at the moment. 😥

ANA is the anti nuclear antibody and an increased count is seen in some autoimmune disorders. They usually test for rheumatoid arthritis if the ANA count warrants this. However, sometimes the ANA might be elevated mildly for no discernible reason. Mine is particularly high and I have Sjorgrens but currently not RA though I’ve been told by my consultant that this can present later.
Hi Larma, I am definitely not medically qualified. My rheumatologist told me that the ANA test can help show up a range of auto immune conditions. The antibody will help the doctor know which one(s) of these it could be. I know it's really worrying and painful to have to wait. Keep strong and take care, hopefully you are 1 step closer to getting a diagnosis.
