Hello everyone , this post is in relation to fibromyalgia , I am waiting a rheumatology appointment and have yet To be diagnosed, the physio who assessed me says my body is in hyper aware state, he asked me to read about fibromyalgia.but he did want to say I had It . I’ve read and have every symptom. The pain I have been experiencing is unbearable and my walking is affected , and whole life really. The gp is reluctant to prescribe me any nerve tablet? He has given me tramadol and it is not helping at all . Any suggestions I am calling the gp this morning to ask for alternative pain relief. That is just as snap shot of I have experienced this past 6 weeks .
Thank you 😞

Sorry to hear this. Just tell the GP that your physical and mental health are suffering and you require some different medication.
If the GP does not want to prescribe something like Gabapentin, you could ask for one of the anti depressants that is commonly used for fibro pain - like amitriptylene or duloxetine.
You could also ask for a referral to the pain clinic. Good luck xx
Morning, I am glad you are catching up today with GP as you say the tramadol is not helping , hopefully he /she will look at something else , I take duloxtene which works well for me personally and been on this for 4 years now. I hope the appointment comes soon as the doc sounds like he is wanting the rheumatologist to make the diagnosis for you and you differently needs some answers, it’s horrid being in pain you have my empathy ,let’s hope an envelope drops through your door very soon.x
Hi , just wondered if you had any side effects from the duloxetine, I’ve tried two other antidepressants for pain but I couldn’t cope with the nausea and side effects, this is the third one the Dr has given me but I’m nervous to try it after the others, I do suffer with my stomach anyway.
I’ve tried them all and they’ve made me very ill, so just taking the strong painkillers at the moment. I had all the side effects and was like a zombie. Plus it’s very difficult to wean off from antidepressants.
Morning, I didn’t have any side effects when starting 4 years ago and settled very well on it, I am alittle heady in mornings but soon wears off, yes I understand been nervous ,, I was put on Sertraline and never touch that again, but we all suit different meds and react differently, I don’t take any other meds along side this on a regular basis for pain , but occasionally codiene .xx
I would say just to be aware that medication does not work for a lot of fibro sufferers. Sometimes things work for a bit and obviously you should try the different options, but medication resistance is a symptom of fibro.
Hi. Sorry to hear you're in so much pain. I'm also waiting for a RA appointment which seems to be taking ages. My GP has prescribed Venlafaxine which seems to work well for me. I still get aches and pains but they are more bearable and nowhere near as bad as it was when I didn't take it. I hope you find what works for you asap. Best of luck. x
Good afternoon,I’m suffering from fibromyalgia since May 2020. The pain is excruciating and I barely can walk., sit, lay or stand. Also on Tramadol and Co-Dydromol on daily basis. Been on steroids and antidepressants, as they could help to relief the pain, but nothing helps. Still awaiting the rheumatologist appointment since last year as all other specialists couldn’t do anything. However, my condition getting worse and worse and I’ve also developed autoimmune illness, when my body attacks itself and I get inflammation in every joint too…
I don’t really know what could help, but I know what you are going through.
Indeed Tramadol is not a treatment, but only temporary pain relief. Not sure if any medication there for our diagnosis. I just take the pain killers, otherwise cannot manage. I still try to do a light exercise even through the pain, but at least it relaxes the stiffness.
I’ve had fybro for many years as well as arthritis, I’ve got much worse as I’ve got older, I can’t seem to take antidepressants either they make my stomach so bad with nausea, I take painkillers like you to get through the day, it’s a nightmare.
