FM or not FM

Hi all, I have been diagnosed with FM for about six months now and have pain mainly in the torso areas, chest pain feels like I am having a heart attack sometimes. Also the bowel and stomach. I have been diagnosed with divitucala desease and have a mild heatus hernia. Can FM pain pinpoint these areas? Have been under a psychiatrist dealing with people with unexplained pain and just been put on pregabalin anyone else been on this drug?

Doesn't sound much like fibro to me but then I'm not a doctor. I've been on Pregablin, made me put on a lot of weight, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole now but others do not have this issue with it. It made me incredibly hungry fairly quickly so you'll probably know if its likely to have that effect on you.

I have had all those symptoms for 8 years and have been diagnosed with GERD/acid reflux, gastritis and hiatal hernia.

Hello, it doesn't sound like fibromyalgia to me either, who gave you that diagnosis? I would seek a second opinion. I was put on pregablin years ago and I put on loads of weight, it stopped helping after a few months on the highest dose, and made me so ill trying to come of it, in my opinion it is a horrible drug. Please try and get a second opinion x

Hi, sounds like you may be suffering from costochondritis, I developed this approximately the same time as fibromyalgia, I saw numerous doctors and it was only my rheumatologist that said right away what it was, I was given a steroid injection which helped.I have also been on pregabalin aswell as gabapentin but the side effects were too much, I basically laid on the sofa for months.

Hi there chest pain definitely seems fibromyalgia related to me as I have the chest pain at times ,also get stomach issues but fibromyalgia effects my back shoulders legs basically everywhere ask to see a rheumatologist I wish u well and my father has diverticulitis he had to change his whole diet mash boiled chicken ect.....

Divertucular disease can cause the pains in your bowel, and hiatus hernia could be responsible for the chest pains, but see your doctor, please, don't just take my word for it, because it could be other things too.

Cheers, Midori

Hi, you mention pain mainly being on your torso /chest area - it's this the only area you get pain or simply the main areas affected?

If it's the only area, then I would question the diagnosis as fibromyalgia is widespread pain affecting the whole body. Also, if your pain moves some the body (ie pain in one area one day, a different area the next) is also a good indicator of fibro pain for to it being caused by disordered pain processing rather than an injury or inflammation in the body
