I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year and need help understanding my symptoms. It has been many years, waiting to receive a diagnosis, mostly due to chronic pain being masked by issues with my spine.
I have also suffered with chronic asthma, since infancy.
When I experience fatigue I also get very short of breath. I almost feels like I'm being suffocated (lack of oxygen in the air). I also feel like the horizon is moving at times. Is this normal with fatigue?
At times I don't know whether it is just my asthma playing up or Fibromyalgia.
I had a lengthy episode of this last year and believed at first to be asthma. However, my inhalers and steroids did nothing to relieve the symptoms.
Can anyone here relate to this?
Thanks for reading

Hi Noddy, I suffer with breathlessness, it affects me on most days. I have fibromyalgia was diagnosed 7 years ago, I have no other breathing conditions, the specialist told me this is normal with fibromyalgia patients
Hi mbay02,Thank you for responding, its reassuring to know that I’m not alone on this. Still trying to understand my symptoms more and realising a few things.
Yes I get this too. Just come back from the local Tesco and feel very fatigued and the lack of oxygen feeling in my lungs. It comes with the fatigue in my case.
Yes, it is common for me and on a 'flare up' like I am having at the moment my whole spine is very painful. It feels as though it is being squeezed and is on fire. Forgive my bad phrasing, Fibro Fog and difficulty using my fingers hinders me. I wonder if anyone gets bad cramps in, under and around the ribs. I also get foot and leg cramps if they get cold. There are so many combinations of 'symptoms' .....
Hello and welcome, I see members already replied with some of their experiences, it’s a good forum to come and have a read I’ve learnt so much being here and having a chat with others in our very big unwanted club, like yourself a lot of us do have multiple conditions to cope with on a daily basis, but some good people here as you will find and lots of empathy.
Expert acupressure helped me with this air hunger, breathlessness, gasping for breath. OTOH with specific lung points, OTO it also comes from the shoulders and arms - get it most when doing something overhead (20'' can be enough), so working on my shoulder tendons helps a lot.
