i have had ar for 14 yrs, so got myself used to it, ( I'm 81 this year by the way) had one or two set backs but in the whole thought I managed it ok. Three weeks ago I had that awful norovirus , but weathered that storm. Last week my breathless became wise and also no energy , just did the usual thing round house. But went to Dr he did say it could be stress, or anaemia , all the obs he took were all ok, so said I had to have some blood taken(next week)., but no I waking up with a start feeling as though I am going to stop breathing ,it's a terrible feeling . I can't believe that all my obs are ok and yet I feel so ill. I feel that I just can't go on with all these.p things cropping up. I'm so tired and depressed my son says that I should exercise more but I just feel as I am going to pass out all the time even sleeping now is a bother. Sorry for all this story , put people on here are so kind and help you on. Thanks Sann

Hello sann

I am very sorry to hear that you are struggling with your breathing and are feeling depressed.

Please don't take any offence, as I genuinely believe you are struggling to breath, but do you think it is possible that you could be having a panic attack and are hyperventilating?

Next time you are having trouble breathing, keep a paper bag handy, scrunch the top of the bag up and breath into it slowly and gently.

Did your GP listen to chest?  Do you think maybe you have the start of a chest infection?  Have you tried sleeping with your pillows propped up a little bit to see if that helps?

My son had the Norovirus some months back. He is young fit and healthy and it took him a very long time to recuperate from it.

If you only had the Norovirus three weeks ago, you may need to be a little more patient with yourself as I would imagine that you are still very much recuperating from that.

It sounds to me as though you are being very hard on yourself. Rest up as best you can and if you are still struggling to breath next week, I would highly recommend that you go back to see your GP.

If it gets a lot worse you must ring 111 for some help, or call 999 if it is really bad.

Wishing you all the very best.

Hi Sann, I have had norovirus in past, it is particularly violent. It took me absolutely months to recover fully. I think three weeks is nothing and you need to give yourself a good rest and some good food and plenty of time to recover. Don't even contemplate exercise ! Although fresh air will do you good. Please look after yourself, you need it.

Hi there Sann,  sorry that you are feeling so poorly.  I don't think I can be of much help, as I don't know too much about Atrial Fibrillation.  One thing       I would like to bring to your attention though, is because of the D & V with the Noro Virus, the pills that you take will have been washed out of your system, and that can cause no end of trouble.  Particularly Cardiac Meds and Blood Pressure meds, they are reliant on regular amounts in your blood stream for optimal results.  I know that is it 3 weeks since you had the virus, but it takes a while for regular medication to build up again in your system.

I truly hope that you feel better soon, and as said above by BlueMermaid3  if you are worried at all please ring 111 for advice, or 999 if you are struggling for breath.

Take care.

GP. 💜

Hello Sann,

Sorry that you are suffering at the moment.

When you say you have AR do you mean AF (atrial fibullation).

I have AF as well as fibromyalgia and there is a excellent forum on Healthunlocked (AFA) which will be able to answer your questions.

Sleep apnea (holding your breath during sleep) sometimes accompanies AF but once diagnosed and treated with a CRAP machine your breathless and tiredness should improve.

Also if you have AF you most certainly need to see a cardiologist at the very least but preferably a Electrophysiologist.

How you feel better soon.

Carol.

So sorry you are feeling so poorly.  A dear friend of mine who is elderly had that virus at least a month back and she has been absent from the club i go to since.  She is recovering but slowly and had a set back as she tried to do  too much to soon.  The blood test hopefully will give your GP more information. Hope you are feeling better soon.x

Hi San

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering and struggling so much and I sincerely hope that you feel better soon. The sad thing with depression is that is can become a vicious circle and you start to feel more and more tired and not able to do things and then you can feel breathless when you do try and do something? Do you know which came first, the breathlessness or the depression? It may help to discuss how you are feeling down with your GP if you have not already?

i want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your blood tests, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thank you so much for your kind wishes I think it was the depression, as I have had a particular health issue, and it is still present, as my depression gets more and more hold on me. Like I said all me obs at the Drs were OK pulse blood pressure temp, etc. So I can't get blood taken till Monday , I just feel as if I am going down and nobody seems to do anything about it, I told dr when I went last week how much I was depressed, in fact I said I was so tired of it all I could have committed suicide, his reply "aw bless you " thanks once again
