Hi, you can contact FMA UK's benefit helpine on 0300 999 0055 (Mon, Wed, Fri 10.00-12.00) or email benefits.advice@fmauk.org
They can provide guidelines on how to apply for pip. It's worthwhile having a read before you apply. You then need to call the dwp directly to start the claim. They take some basic information over the phone then send you out forms to complete.
Recommend contacting your local cab or welfare rights officer for help in completing them.
Hello, PIP is a state benefit to help you with your daily living activities and mobility issues. PIP is not awarded on a disability, diagnosis or the amount of prescription medications you are prescribed. Have you tried the Benefits and work site and take a self test and see how you fare. When you do a self test be 100% honest with your answers because if you decide to apply for PIP the answers you submit in your application form will have to be justified at your assessment. When I did a change of circumstances for PIP I did the self test and scored 18 points for daily living. Then I went through each descriptor again being tough on myself and got it down to 15 points. I put my claim pack in after my phone assessment and on receiving the assessment report I saw that my expected award would be the same as I was already on. I had been deemed, assumed or presumed by the assessor as I was able to use mobility scooters I should be able to preform the daily living activities without help or assistance. While waiting for the award notification letter I prepared my MR and as soon as the award letter arrived I informed DWP I wished to lodge an MR. I am now on enhanced daily living and maintained my enhanced mobility.
