I had symptoms in my teens/twenties but it took 37+ years to get a diagnosis!

Had symptoms since my teens only just been diagnosed at 35!

Hi sore1234, I had muscle pain fro age 8 but was diagnosed at 40. However, severity increased at puberty, when I had a child when I moved to Europe and after a surgery. Perhaps the increment led me to seek out treatment.

Hi Sore1234. Good question. I think I had fibro all through my teens. It got a lot worse after I had my first daughter (she is now 49).

I eventually diagnosed myself - and paid to see a specialist - who confirmed I did indeed have fibromyalgia when I was about 63. So as you can see - I’ve spent most of my adult life coping with all the symptoms.

Along the way I was investigated for multiple allergies/hormone imbalances/breathing difficulties /depression. It’s not been an easy ride - but I did learn how to deal with the problems (to some degree).

I was very relieved to be diagnosed with fibro - it confirmed what I always knew - I was ill and not nuts!

Xxx

Same as everyone else so far. Had symptoms from 12. Told it was “growing pains”. Felt awful throughout my teens and twenties. Paid to see a private specialist and finally got diagnosed at 37. What a relief to know! X

Like others here, I was experiencing pain and fatigue in my early 20's like you but I didn't receive a diagnosis until early 40's. 20 years ago doctors were not so knowledgeable about Fibromyalgia as they are now. I hope that you get the support that you need.

I had symptoms in my late teens after a car accident, only diagnosed at 35 after years of going to a doctor who done bloods to tell me I was just a tired person. It took me to move to a different area, new GP and get a diagnosis x
