Fibromyalgia query
Hi Julie. It’s a good question! Diagnosis can take a while as there is no specific test and it basically involves ruling out lots of other diseases first 🙃
Your GP is your first port of call. GPs can diagnose fibro these days. Have a read of this NHS info: nhs.uk/conditions/fibromyal...
If your GP is reluctant to do the diagnosis, you can ask for a referral to a rheumatologist. The waiting lists are pretty long though.
Good luck!
Hi and a warm welcome to our community. Here you will find information support friendship and laughter too. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our main website fmauk.org
Diagnosis is done by eliminating other potential causes of your symptoms or arthritis, lupus, ms etc
If so tests return clear, and your medical history fits with fibromyalgia - then a diagnosis is usually given.
Your GP might do all the tests, or refer you to rheumatologist (varies depending on where you live)
