Does anyone get sore muscles around and behind their eyes with fibro or am I an odd duck?

Far from it. I have no solid evidence, but any muscle seems to ache at will, including smile and frown muscles

I’ve not used my smile muscles too often recently. I must try them out more often. 😁😁😁 xx

Yes. Have done for quite a while now. In fact I'm having to use eye drops and eye spray to keep it under control as well as cooling eye masks

Yes I have a problem with sore eyes. My doc told me to put warm flannel on my eyes 10 minutes a day and gently bathe them with cotton wool and. Use eye drops

Yes I’ve been using eye drops too. I’m just relieved to know I’m not the only one. I use a towel and a heat pad at night. It’s just so frustrating that there are so many related symptoms. You never know what to expect next.

My right eye more than my left. But with both eyes, I feel a tiredness behind them. And the right eye can sometimes be painful if I’ve rubbed it by mistake. I use the drops a few times a week.

Yes I've had it for 3 years now. I was referred to the eye hospital and discovered I have ‘Dry Eye’. I have to take eye drops to lubricate around the eye, my symptoms never go away but they are lessened by the drops. Most days I feel like I want to ‘take my eyes out’ and give the the muscles around them a good hug !

Hello, I am just curious if you have any autoimmune disease as well? I have Fibro and Rheumatoid and had eye problems for a while. I let it go and my vision got very blurry and lots of floaters. I just kept seeing my optometrist for a new prescription but that wasn't helping. Finally I went to a new optometrist that saw something out of the ordinary and send me to an ophthalmologist. Turned out that I had Uveitis. It's been almost 10 years now and it is pretty well under control with my Arthritis meds.I am just curious if you do have anything else going on other than Fibro as they often go hand in hand.

Oh yes. Ibs anxiety and depression. The unholy three that often hang out with fibro. Actually the fibro came last. I guess my body had more than the other three to plague me!🤣🤣🤣

Hi Gillyflower. I’ve always had trouble with my ‘dry eyes’. My family always joke that I’ve ‘cried my eyes out once too often’. But I’ve never connected that particular problem with my fibromyalgia.

I find the best help is Optrex spray for Dry and Irritated eyes. It’s easy to use - just close your eyes and spray.

Its amazing how many seemingly unrelated symptoms seem to have the same root cause.

Xxx

I very much agree. Just wish I knew where the heck the root cause came from!

Yes, dry, gritty & painful eyes too. I do have RA & Secondary Sjögren’s as well as fibro so eye drops, eye gel, cleanser etc all add to the daily ‘fedupedness’ feeling. How on earth did I manage to fill my days before I had all these medications to swallow, drink, rub in, drop in, squeeze in, bathe with & be injected with? I think I worked for 35+ years but it’s all a bit of a fog! 🤣🤣🤣 Never mind, there’s a new surprise around the corner most days. Today’s was, ‘Bl**dy h*ll. Are my legs really that hairy!’ 😱 That’ll take at least a whole day to get through. 🙈 Nic xx

Gosh I haven’t looked at my legs in ages! Usually only in summer!

Yes both helpful and reassuring!

yep... really sore sometimes :-( a cold compress & drinking lots of water does help, but not a cure... comes & goes... I think everything’s on a spectrum with Fibro/RA/Sjogorens... lots of crossover whatever your ‘label’..

Yes I try to drink water as much as I can but I’m not very good at it. I hate the taste of it. The toughest thing is you never know when one of them is going to jump out and say boo!

in reply toGillyflower18

I have those Vitamin C tablets.... blackcurrant ones are yum... add those to the water so you can’t taste it...(other flavours are available....

I'm wondering whether sore eye muscles are part of the fibro-muscle-problem and dry eyes may be related but separate? Wasn't sure how you meant this... ?

Gillyflower18 profile image
Gillyflower18 in reply toJayCeon

I think it can be either or both from the replies I’ve read here but I was just wondering if other people with fibro dealt with sore eye muscles.
