Does anyone else suffer with chest problems when the weather gets colder.
Just one walk in the colder weather will set off tenderness down my sternum and each side of it, making it uncomfortable to breathe. This will last now for most of the winter.
I have spoke with my doctor in the past and he put it down to fibromyalgia so I am wondering if you have any experience with this.
Thank you. X

Glad you have seen your doctor about this, I certaintly do not enjoy being outside in the cold as seems to make my aches pains alittle worse and always glad to get back inside. Take care xx
Have you ever had a chest injury? I had heart bypass surgery and ever since I’ve had various types of chest pain, unrelated to heart problem. Been under the care of excellent cardiologists who have sorted through the different symptoms. Lots of reasons for sternum pain. Best to first have a cardiologist rule out anything questionable. Good luck!❤️🏄♀️
I haven't had a chest injury. However when I was 10 years old (I am 50 now) I had bronchitis and was in a lot pain. I sometimes wonder if this episode weakened my chest.
Since I’m not a doctor, I can’t diagnose. Or even speculate. It helped me to get the symptoms reviewed by a doctor. Takes all those negative thoughts and puts them to rest afterwards. (Most of the time) I had to quit googling every odd symptom I thought I had. Isn’t good for my peace of mind. Too much information opens too many cans of worms. Peace Brah. ❤️🏄♀️
My wife has fibromyalgia and suffers with extreme chest pains, especially in the winter. This, for her at least, is caused by costachondritis. This is when the sternum, which is made up of cartilage, swells. I often hear it "crack" when she moves and she let's out a yelp. It often results in her crying with the pain.Look it up online and see if the symptoms are similar to what you're experiencing.
Yes I always have this pain in cold weather. Had all the tests done to rule out any other problems and now try to avoid going out on the coldest days. Always wrap up well and a thick scarf keeps my chest warmer. It's another thing the lovely fibro throws at us.
