Hi I'm new here, but was diagnosed with fibro 4 years ago. For the last 2 years I've had bruising appear at the top of each buttock, either side of my sacrum. My gp 2 years ago said she didn't know what it is and asked if I'd fallen, which I hadn't. The bruising has worsened over the lockdown and its become painful at times causing pain in my hips as well, when I walk and sitting/driving. Ive been to see my Gp, who again said the hadn't got a clue what it is, and asked if I'd fallen. He's sent me for loads of bloods and they've all come back fine. He'd suggested a mri, but the hospital here in Derby have rejected the referral.
I wondered if anyone else has suffered something like this? If so did the ever find a cause?

Hi and a warm welcome to our community. Here you will find information support friendship and laughter too. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our main website fmauk.org
Bruising is not a typical symptom with fibro, although many people mention that they bruise easier ... But sorry don't have any answers to help
Hi mjgoddo
Well this is a bit of mystery, I mean you can actually bruise your sacrum, I know did it when i came off a horse but have never heard of bruising of the skin if you have not had a fall. I have horrendous pains in my hips but I have a slight curve of the spine and osteoporosis in my hips but yours is very strange especially as bloods are normal instead of an MRI how about asking for an X-Ray.
Hello, it is an odd one, doctors just don't have a clue! I had a pilonidal sinus over 10 years ago and had to have an operation to remove it. I wonder if it's connected, bn so long I'd doubt it. My doctor's surgery won't often set up tests or examinations that patients suggest. But I'll ask about an x-ray, thank you the suggestion Panda 1968.
Has anyone considered allodynia? With more extreme cases you can have large unexplained bruises and it is recognised as a fibro symptom, I also ending with bruises on my back from using hot water bottles too much.
I can’t explain it, but I can tell you I’ve got bruises all over my lower back because I’ve used a hot water bottle that’s too hot ...... I’m lost without my HWB
Fibro's a bit of weirdo, you end up having odd symptoms!! I get rashes from time to time and can't stand smells my wife can't detect.I'll Google allodynia. Watch out with those hot water bottles, the can be dangerous
Hello , I would speak to your doctor and say the referral that was put in has been rejected and could it be followed up fairly quickly as your pain and bruising has become worse, hopefully your doc will be on the case and chase this up for you, hope it gets sorted ,getting some answers would be helpful, so in the meantime take care .
sorry to hear of your problems and welcome it is a strange one have not heard of before hope you can find a solution soon all the best and take care from cheetah19
