Weighted Blanket For Fibromyalgia

Hi everyone, hope you are all as well as can be.

Has anyone tried these weighted blankets for fibro, I am thinking of getting one, but as money is tight I don't want to buy one if they don't help.

Hi there 1st. time I've heard about this so I googled it and you're right about being costly to buy but think it's a thing I must save for thank god Christman is just around the corner

I have recently bought 2, 1st one for my hubby, he doesn't have fibro, because he doesn't sleep well and was having leg and foot cramps every night. It has done wonders for his cramps. I tried it for a couple of nights, and had a good nights sleep, also my morning stiffness has disappeared, I feel really good. I ordered myself one straight away, it's a godsend. I searched on line for them, and came up with some very reasonable ones at Online Home Shop. (hope it's ok to name a store on here) They have several on there, I ordered the Brentford ones. I also ordered some duvet covers for them to stop them getting soiled. It's early days for me, I've only had mine just over a week, but I am really pleased with it and the results.

I've got 2, over is a full size blanket that I bought in America in holiday, the other one was made by a local business, and is a shrug that goes over your shoulders x

That's a brilliant idea,over the shoulder ones, do you find it helps.

Oh yes, even when not needing it for pain I find it really comforting to wear as it helps keep me warm. (The weights are made with rice and can be warmed in microwave to use as heat therapy)

You can make one if you’re crafty. But I’m also thinking about trying it. Good for autism but I don’t know if it’ll work for fibromyalgia.

I’ve decided I love the weighted blanket! Not sure why, it just works

I originally bought weights to try making my own ... Won one in a competition, and bought my second one in America. The plastic pellets have since come on useful for when I'm making crochet decorations, to give them a bit of weight

Did you get the weighted blanket? I am hesitant because though I used to enjoy heavy blankets—found them soothing before the chronic pain and fatigue, I now find weights or pressure uncomfortable and want to remove them. I’m curious , do you ever feel such things? How is blanket working for you?

I can recommend weighted blankets. I have pain including RLS and neuropathy. I have a weighted blanket and it helps me sleepat night —-a godsend. I’d say try it. I purchased mine from Amazon. Good luck ! Nona

Our autistic grandson lives with us, and when we went to his special school to meet his teachers last year they had displays of different items they use to help the kids. Some were weighted blankets which the guy suggested I try.

Not being a fan these days of anything vaguely heavy, tight or draggy (in my world it's a word), I was reluctant but persuaded to try them. Y'know what happened when the bears left their porridge? Just call me Goldilocks, because one was a little too heavy, one too light (these were graded for youngsters after all) and one Just Right! Weighty to lift (I was helped), but wow, did it feel good on - not heavy at all, and didn't want to take it off...

The moral of this story is: it's worth trying some if possible (local social services may have some ideas, or maybe even a FM group?), and if you find one that works it's worth its weight in gold. Or rice 😄; but take note of recommended calculations... 10% bodyweight is good starting point
